Allen (ankle) is not listed on the injury report in advance of Wednesday's season opener against the Grizzlies.
EDGE Analysis
Allen missed the team's final preseason game with an ankle injury, though it appears he's shaken it off and will be ready for the opener. Considering the Pelicans' lack of depth, Allen should be a significant part of the rotation. Last year, he posted 9.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.4 assists across 27.0 minutes per game.

Allen (ankle) is expected to be available for Wednesday's season opener against the Grizzlies, Will Guillory of NOLA.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran had been battling an ankle injury, which kept him out of the preseason finale Friday, but it doesn't look to be anything serious, and the expectation is that he'll be available off the bench Wednesday. The 35-year-old is clearly past his prime, but he remains an effective perimeter defender when healthy and averaged 1.6 steals in 27.0 minutes per game last season for the Grizzlies.

Allen is dealing with left ankle soreness and has been ruled out for Friday's preseason finale against the Grizzlies.
EDGE Analysis
Considering it's just being listed as soreness, it doesn't sound like anything overly serious, though the Pelicans will play it safe with the 35-year-old veteran. He'll get the night off Friday, but will then have just under a week to get ready for the regular-season opener against the Grizzlies on Wednesday. Allen will likely be the first wing off the bench to start the year, though his role could decline a bit one Rajon Rondo (hernia) returns and Jrue Holiday slides back over to shooting guard.

Allen is finalizing a one-year deal with the Pelicans, Shams Charania of The Vertical reports.
EDGE Analysis
Set to turn 36 in January, Allen's best days are in the rear-view, but when healthy he's still one of the NBA's most effective perimeter defenders. In 71 games for Memphis last season, Allen averaged 9.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game, while shooting 46.1 percent from the floor. He'll likely take on a reduced role in New Orleans as a defensive specialist, meaning he's unlikely to be much of a fantasy difference-maker.

Allen (leg) has been ruled out for Thursday's Game 6 against the Spurs.
EDGE Analysis
Allen remains doubtful for the remainder of the first round, so if the Grizzlies do extend the series to a Game 7, he still likely won't be cleared for a return to the court. James Ennis has started the last two games and has averaged 9.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.0 assist across 31.5 minutes. He remains the favorite to start in Allen's place.

Allen (leg) has officially been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Spurs.
EDGE Analysis
Allen was recently able to shed his walking boot and also took part in some conditioning on a stationary bike over the weekend, but the Grizzlies still don't expect to have him back at any point during the first round of the playoffs. He's now officially been ruled out for Game 5 on Tuesday and should be considered doubtful for Game 6 as well. James Ennis started the Grizzlies' last contest and logged 32 minutes, so he should be in line for another increase in playing time, while Wayne Selden is also a candidate to see a bigger role.

Allen (calf) is out of his walking boot, but remains doubtful for the Grizzlies' first round series against the Spurs, Michael Wallace of Grizzlies.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Allen was able to work on his conditioning via a stationary bike during the team's practice. He has been sidelined since sustaining the injury in the team's regular season finale against the Mavericks. Wayne Selden and James Ennis have both filled in for the veteran in the starting lineup, but the latter figures to get another starting nod should Allen officially be ruled out for Game 4.

Allen (calf) has been ruled out for Thursday's Game 3 against the Spurs.
EDGE Analysis
Allen continues to be evaluated on a game-to-game basis despite being expected to sit out the entirety of the first round of the playoffs. He'll continue to receive treatment over the next few days, with his next shot to see the court for Saturday's Game 4, but if all goes as expected, Allen likely won't be available for that contest either. Wayne Selden has started the last two games in his place, but played just 16 minutes Monday, so guys like Vince Carter and James Ennis appear to be benefiting more in Allen's absence.

Allen (calf) has officially been ruled out for Monday's Game 2 matchup with the Spurs.
EDGE Analysis
It was reported late last week that Allen was doubtful for the entire first round of the playoffs, so it comes as no surprise he won't be available against the Spurs on Monday. He'll continue to be evaluated on a game-to-game basis, but currently, it's unlikely he'd see the court again this season if the Grizzlies aren't able to make it out of the first round. Wayne Selden started in his place in Game 1 and could be in line for a second straight start, while both Vince Carter and James Ennis should also see added minutes.

Allen has been diagnosed with a right calf strain and is considered doubtful for the first round of the playoffs, Michael Wallace of Grizzlies.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Allen appeared to suffer just a minor injury during Wednesday's regular-season finale, but an MRI performed Thursday has confirmed it's a little more serious than expected. The Grizzlies are considering him out indefinitely with a calf strain at this point in time and he's fully expected to miss the first round of the playoffs against the Spurs. Allen was expected to match up with Kawhi Leonard of the Spurs, so the Grizzlies are going to have a much tougher time defensively without their usual defensive stopper available. Without Allen, look for some combination of James Ennis, Vince Carter and Wayne Selden to cover the extra minutes.
