Gaines agreed to a contract Monday with DSC Basket of the Uruguayan Primera Division, Fer Martinez Larrosa of 810Espectador.com reports.

Gaines most recently played for the Salt Lake City Stars in the NBA Development League in 2016-17, averaging 14.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.0 three-pointers and 1.6 steals in 27.6 minutes per game over 46 appearances. The 31-year-old hasn't appeared at the NBA level since the 2011-12 campaign and looks bound to bounce around the foreign ranks for the rest of his career.

Gaines has signed with Besiktas of the Turkish Basketball League, Sportando reports. Gaines played in the D-League and in Europe last season. The 2011-12 season was the last time he played for an NBA team, and the longer he stays overseas, the less likely it is that he'd return to the NBA and carve out a sizable role.

Sundiata Gaines started at point guard for the Nets on Friday and had six points, four rebounds and an assist on 2-of-13 shooting in Friday's blowout loss to the Magic. When you're starting Gaines, DeShawn Stevenson and Shelden Williams, blowouts are going to be frequent occurrences. Jordan Farmar (groin) and Deron Williams (calf) were both out, allowing Gaines to start tonight.

With D-Will, Farmar and Brook Lopez (ankle) all injured and newly-acquired Gerald Wallace not expected to play until Saturday, points may be hard to come by for New Jersey when then take on Orlando Friday night.

Sundiata Gaines (toe) is expected to "give it a go" on Wednesday, according to Avery Johnson. Even with Jordan Farmar (groin) sidelined, Gaines' role remains limited. He's averaging just 4.8 points in his last five games.

New Jersey has arguably been bitten by the injury bug harder than any other team in the league. With Jordan Farmar ruled out through the All-Star break, Deron Williams would see all the minutes he could handle if Gaines is unable to go.
