Mike D'Antoni expects Steve Nash (back) to miss at least another 10 days.
Nash will slowly increase his workouts over the next week but it's hard to say when he might return, or how he'll play if he does return. The good news is that D'Antoni dismissed the notion that Nash is considering retirement -- the former league MVP still has a passion for the game and wants to give it another go.

Steve Nash (back) is reportedly "seriously considering" retirement due to his ailing back.
This would be a sad end to the the two-time MVP's career, but his soon-to-be 40-year-old body just doesn't seem to want to cooperate with his desire to play. While Nash may still give it one last go before hanging up his gym sneakers, he wasn't producing at a high level (or playing back-to-backs) even before his latest injury. If Nash does indeed retire, Steve Blake's already soaring fantasy value would be cemented.

Steve Nash put up some shots after the Lakers' shootaround on Sunday, according to Mark Medina of the Daily News.
This doesn't mean much in the big picture, but it's nice to see Nash continuing to do light activities during his two-week rest period, after which he'll be re-evaluated. Any talk about Nash retiring has been silenced, at least temporarily, but he's shooting 26.1 percent from the field in limited action this year and it's very hard to be optimistic about his season outlook.

Steve Nash (back) is with the Lakers and participated in light shooting drills on Friday.
It's not a major accomplishment and Nash is still out for at least two weeks. TMZ caught Nash getting into a car earlier this week and he said his back issue is "rough." That said, it's encouraging that he's back with the team and the unsubstantiated retirement rumors are losing steam. Steve Blake has double-digit assists in each of his last two games and should have the reins to the offense for the foreseeable future.

Steve Nash isn't traveling with the Lakers after receiving an epidural to reduce inflammation on Tuesday.
Nash has a complex of pain stemming from nerve damage but he's determined to rehab the injury (described as "nerve root irritation") and return as a productive player for the Lakers. That outcome would be ideal, but it may not be realistic considering he spent the entire summer rehabbing only to be sidelined two weeks into the season. Steve Blake and Jodie Meeks will continue starting in L.A.'s backcourt while the former MVP regains his health.

Coach Mike D'Antoni said he's "concerned" about Steve Nash (back) following Sunday's loss to the Timberwolves.
"It's tough on him more than anybody," D'Antoni said. "He wants in the worst way to be able to perform and have a good year." Nash said his back pain is from the nerve issues he's had since the broken leg in 2012, and he will see a doctor on Monday. In just about every post-game interview Nash says how he's battling, but his injury on Sunday could be the straw that broke the camel's back. Steve Blake played 35 minutes and scored 19 points on Sunday, making him a nice pickup in standard leagues. Jordan Farmar and Jodie Meeks should have their roles increase. As for Nash, it seems like cutting him in almost all leagues is the right move.

Updating a previous report, Steve Nash will see a back doctor on Monday and he will not return to Sunday's game.
Nash is a walking injury report. He's already missed two games with a variety of ailments this season and owners can only hope that his back injury is fleeting. In a bit of encouraging news, Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak suggested that Nash sitting out during back-to-back sets "[is] not something that's etched in stone." He added that he hopes Nash can give the Lakers "25 to 28 minutes [per game]," a slight increase from his current 24 per game. These quotes came in the context of Kupchak addressing season-ticket holders, so some targeted optimism is surely at play, but it's still good news for Nash owners weathering his early DNPs.

Steve Nash will not play against the Pelicans.
This has been the plan all along and he played 28 minutes in Thursday's win over the Rockets. Nash can't buy a bucket this season and he's currently shooting just 21.9 percent on his 2-point shots, which is the lowest in the NBA among players with at least 20 attempts from that range. Jordan Farmar is an interesting spot start tonight.

Steve Nash said on Wednesday that he didn't expect to play on Friday against the Pelicans.
Nash played 28 minutes on Thursday night so it would make sense that he is out for toinght's game. We hope to have a definitive answer later today, and both Jordan Farmar and Steve Blake will see a boost in value if Nash is out.

Steve Nash played 28 minutes against the Rockets on Thursday, scoring 12 points with one rebound, six assists, one steal, two 3-pointers and four turnovers.
He shot just 3-of-11 from the field tonight, which is just a hair below his season percentage of 28.1. Nash had Patrick Beverley in his face all night, so he looked a little slower than usual and didn't get many clean looks. Chances are he'll sit in the second game of a back-to-back set on Friday night.
