Philadelphia head coach Nick Nurse said Sunday that Covington (knee) hasn't been cleared to practice, Austin Krell of USA Today reports. "Not much light at the end of that tunnel," Nurse said, in reference to when Covington might be available.
EDGE Analysis
Covington hasn't played since Dec. 30 due to a left knee bone bruise, and based on the pessimistic tone of Nurse's comments, the veteran forward's return doesn't appear to be imminent. The 76ers announced Jan. 24 that Covington was scheduled to be re-evaluated in 3-to-4 weeks, but that timeline shouldn't be viewed as an indicator of when he might be ready to return. Even if Covington isn't cleared to resume on-court activity coming out of the All-Star break, he'll likely need a full week's worth of workouts to get his conditioning back in order following a prolonged absence. Covington will likely be in line for only a minor role in the Philadelphia rotation once he's cleared to play.

Covington (knee) will be re-evaluated in 3-to-4 weeks, Kyle Neubeck of AllPHLY.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Based on this re-evaluation date, Covington looks as though he'll be sidelined through the All-Star break after showing limited improvement over the past three weeks while receiving treatment to address inflammation and bone bruising in his left knee. Even before sustaining the injury, Covington had been a fringe member of the rotation. His continued absence could nonetheless continue to open up room on the second unit for Marcus Morris (foot) and Danuel House.

Coach Nick Nurse said Covington (knee) didn't participate in Sunday's practice, Austin Krell of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Philadelphia seems to be viewing Covington as day-to-day with left knee inflammation, but his lack of activity in Sunday's practice doesn't bode well for his chances of suiting up Monday against the Rockets. Covington has been a fringe member of the 76ers' rotation since being acquired from the Clippers on Oct. 31, appearing in 26 games with his new team while averaging 4.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 0.7 assists, 0.7 three-pointers and 0.6 blocks in 16.0 minutes per contest.
