Mavericks president Donnie Nelson said that Dallas may consider signing Rashard Lewis after his knee surgery.
Lewis' one-year, $1.4 million deal with the Mavs was rescinded after a physical revealed the need for surgery. The severity of his injury is unclear, which may be part of the reason for Nelson's hesitation, so hopefully Lewis will receive an optimistic prognosis after he goes under the knife.

Updating a previous report, the Mavericks have voided Rashard Lewis' contract after learning that he will require knee surgery.
"It came to our attention during Rashard Lewis' physical that he is in need of a medical procedure on his right knee," said Mavs president Donnie Nelson. Lewis' agent didn't give any details about the nature or severity of the injury, so it's unclear when he might be healthy enough to resume basketball activities. His departure will likely cause the Mavericks to look elsewhere for another forward with shooting range.

The Mavericks may nullify their recent contract agreement with Rashard Lewis after a physical revealed the need for knee surgery.
Lewis already signed his contract, according to Mavericks radio announcer Chuck Cooperstein, which seems odd if he didn't pass his team physical. It shouldn't take long for more details of the situation to emerge -- with luck the 34-year-old Lewis won't require major surgery, and will be ready to play for the Mavs (or another team) on opening night.

Rashard Lewis will soon have knee surgery, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Lewis recently signed a one-year deal with the Mavericks in free agency. Devin Harris accepted a reduced contract last season under similar conditions (requiring toe surgery after agreeing to a contract) but it's futile to speculate without knowing more details about the nature of Lewis' injury and surgery. Stay tuned.

Rashard Lewis is expecting interest from the Heat, Pacers, Thunder, Raptors and Spurs.
He's not going to be getting a max deal this time around and has mid-level exception written all over him. Lewis was a ghost during the regular season for the Heat, but coach Erik Spoelstra used him a little more in some matchups during the playoffs. He won't have much fantasy value wherever he lands.

Rashard Lewis moved to the bench in the second half of Game 4, finishing with two points, one board, one block and one turnover in 16 minutes.
Yeah, the Heat won't be starting him in Game 5. Lewis has been posted up and has been a turnstile on defense all over the court. It's still a little hard to believe he received a max contract earlier in his career.

Rashard Lewis started for the Heat in Sunday's Game 2 road win, scoring 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting with three 3-pointers in 26 minutes of action.
Lewis had 22 DNP-CDs during the regular season, with only eight double-digit scoring games to his credit, but he's now scored 10+ points in four straight postseason games. Shane Battier never left Miami's bench and Udonis Haslem played only one minute, so it seems coach Erik Spoelstra is committed to Lewis' outside shooting vs. the Spurs defense.

Rashard Lewis is in the starting lineup for Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
The Heat are going to go small to matchup up with the Spurs. Both teams have been outstanding in 3-point shooting in the playoffs, so that will be a major issue to watch in this series.

Rashard Lewis will start once again in Friday's Game 6 against the Pacers.
Lewis drilled six threes in the Heat's Game 5 loss, and whether the Pacers decide to hide Roy Hibbert defensively on him or turn to David West it's a solid move by Spo. Lewis is going to stretch the floor and make both of the Pacers' bigs pay for camping out in the lane.
