Williams (ankle) will make his preseason debut during Friday's finale against the Grizzlies.
EDGE Analysis
Williams has recovered from a left ankle sprain and will presumably start at power forward in Friday's finale. The Bulls are thin at forward, so Williams should play big minutes this season, especially since he's a strong defensive player in an offensively-tilted lineup.

Williams (ankle) is "hopeful" and "confident" that he'll play in Friday's preseason finale against the Grizzlies, Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Williams recently began practicing in full, and he'll likely get one chance to play in an exhibition game before the regular-season opener Wednesday against the Pistons. Williams is fully expected to start at power forward this season and should easily see 30 minutes per game given the team's lack of depth at forward.

Williams (ankle) went through 5-on-5 drills at Monday's practice, Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was reported Sunday night that Williams could be back on the floor for Friday's preseason finale versus Memphis, and coach Billy Donovan said Monday that it remains a possibility. Per Mayberry, Williams is "progressing in that direction," but the Bulls will base the decision on how Williams' ankle responds to increased activity over the next few days. Either way, Williams is recovering more quickly than expected and should be on course to play in next Wednesday's (Oct. 20) regular-season opener at Detroit.

Williams (ankle sprain) may make his return to the court as soon as Friday's preseason finale against Memphis, Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
After sustaining a sprained ankle during training camp that was expected to keep Williams sidelined for four-to-six weeks, the Florida State product is reportedly progressing ahead of schedule. The soon-to-be second-year pro may be ready to return to the court as soon as Friday. Whenever Williams returns to the Bulls lineup, expect Javonte Green to revert back to his role as a bench piece.

Williams is out for four-to-six weeks due to a severe left ankle sprain, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The early portion of Williams' timeline is the start of the regular season, so there's still a chance he doesn't miss any time if he makes excellent progress. Still, it's more likely he misses the first week or two of the season, which leaves the Bulls extremely thin in the frontcourt. Behind Williams is Derrick Jones and Alize Johnson. There's always a possibility DeMar DeRozan sees more time at power forward, opening up minutes for Troy Brown and Alex Caruso too.
