Williams provided 12 points (5-10 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal across 31 minutes during Tuesday's 108-99 victory over the Nets.

Williams finished with season highs in shot attempts, made field goals, points, rebounds and blocks while playing 30-plus minutes for a second straight contest. This was a step in the right direction for the third-year forward, who missed the majority of last season due to injuries. However, there are still areas Williams can improve on, as he turned the ball over three times and failed to connect on a trio of three-point attempts. Regardless, the forward has scored in double figures in three of the last four games and appears to be getting more comfortable, which should lead to increased aggression on the offensive end.

Williams closed Friday's 129-124 loss to the Spurs with 10 points (4-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, one assist and three steals in 20 minutes.

EDGE Analysis

Williams continues to be woeful on the offensive end, topping double digits for just the second time this season. Viewed as a possible breakout candidate, Williams has been unable to make the most of a favorable situation. Outside of some limited upside in steals, Williams should not be viewed as a viable asset in competitive formats.

Williams totaled 10 points (4-5 FG, 2-2 3Pt), two assists and two steals over 15 minutes during Wednesday's 124-109 victory over the Pacers.

EDGE Analysis

Williams continues to disappoint, managing just 15 minutes in the victory. Seen as a potential asset this season, it would appear the hype was not justified. He is likely to remain a starter but his passive mindset on the offensive end does not lend itself to fantasy upside. At this stage, managers are well within their rights to move on, with a view to keeping an eye on him in case things turn around at some point.

Williams logged four points (2-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt), two rebounds and one steal in 28 minutes during Wednesday's 116-108 win over the Heat.

EDGE Analysis

Williams' lack of production is alarming considering the absence of Zach LaVine (knee). The 2020 No. 4 pick is still more of a defensive option than a reliable scorer, as he has yet to average over 10 points per game. Williams was the only Bulls starter with a negative plus-minus at -4.

Bulls head coach Billy Donovan said Williams will start at power forward during Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Heat, Rob Schaefer of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Donovan shuffled the starting power forward spot during the preseason, with Williams, Javonte Green and Derrick Jones all getting opportunities in the first five. However, the Bulls will stick with the third-year lottery pick, who's started 80 of his 88 NBA appearances, to begin the year. After a strong rookie season, Williams' second-year in the league was derailed by injuries, but now that he's fully healthy, he'll look to bounce back in a big way during the 2022-23 campaign.

Williams amassed 22 points (9-17 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, five assists and a steal in 32 minutes in Tuesday's 127-104 win over Milwaukee.

In his first start since the preseason opener, Williams produced his best overall game. After making just seven shots in his first three preseason contests, the 21-year-old made seven baskets in the first three quarters Tuesday. He started all 71 of his appearances in his rookie year but just nine of his 17 games last year as he battled wrist and shoulder injuries throughout the season. The Bulls have started Williams, Javonte Green and Derrick Jones at power forward in the preseason and it's unclear yet who will get the nod when the regular season begins.

Williams is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's preseason game against Toronto.

EDGE Analysis

The Bulls are experimenting with another new lineup in their third exhibition contest, and for the second straight game Williams will be utilized in a reserve role. Javonte Green got the nod at power forward Friday against Denver, while Derrick Jones will make the start Sunday night. At this stage, it's unclear if Williams will retain the starting job when the regular season rolls around, but the fact that he's failed to start two of three preseason games is not an overly positive indication.

EDGE Analysis

Joe Crowley of the Chicago Sun-Times notes that it's unclear if the change is permanent but expresses that he wouldn't be surprised if Javonte Green, who started Friday, sticks with the starters come Opening Night. Williams saw plenty of usage in Summer League (21.0 points on 19.3 shots in 34.3 minutes per game) but figures to remain a relatively low-usage option in the regular season. He's totaled 16 points in 36 preseason minutes.
