The Raptors waived Bamba on Tuesday, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Bamba signed with the Raptors on Dec. 29 to a one-year contract, but the deal was set to become fully guaranteed if he had remained on the roster through Wednesday. Rather than keeping Bamba around at a prorated $1.86 million salary, the Raptors will instead part ways with the veteran center. With Jakob Poeltl (back) still facing an uncertain timeline to return to action, the Raptors could still elect to bring Bamba back on a 10-day deal in order to bolster their depth in the frontcourt. Bamba played just six total minutes over two appearances in four games after signing his first deal with Toronto.

Bamba will likely provide Toronto with some frontcourt depth temporarily while Jakob Poeltl battles a back injury. He'll likely compete with Sandro Mamukelashvili and Collin Murray-Boyles for center minutes. Bamba, now 27 years old, has had an outstanding season so far with the Jazz's G League affiliate Salt Lake City Stars, averaging 10.0 points, 16.0 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game.

Bamba and the Jazz agreed to a contract Thursday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

EDGE Analysis

The terms of the deal have yet to be reported, but this may be a training camp deal. Bamba has bounced around the league quite a bit with stints in Orlando, both teams in Los Angeles, Philadelphia and New Orleans. He holds career regular-season averages of 6.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks.

Bamba became a free agent after his 10-day contract with the Pelicans expired Thursday.

Bamba appeared in four of the Pelicans' five games during his 10-day deal, averaging 2.5 points and 6.3 rebounds in 15.3 minutes. New Orleans had the option of re-signing him to a second 10-day deal prior to Friday's 134-93 loss to the Timberwolves, but the organization seemingly intends to take a different approach with the open roster spot.

Bamba contributed two points (1-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt), eight rebounds, one assist and one block across 26 minutes during Thursday's 113-93 loss to Orlando.

EDGE Analysis

Bamba, who is on a 10-day deal with the Pelicans, now has two games under his belt. His production has left a lot to be desired, however. In 20.5 minutes, he's averaging 1.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 1.0 blocks on 20.0 percent shooting from the field.

After a brief stint with the Clippers to begin the 2024-25 season, Bamba has since been feasting in the G League for the Birmingham Squadron, posting averages of 21.0 points, 14.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.8 blocks. The Pelicans don't have much to play for at this point in the season, so it would make sense for them to give Bamba an opportunity to impress in the frontcourt.

Bamba will likely be a candidate to join a club lacking frontcourt depth, and in 28 regular-season appearances with the Clippers this year, he averaged 4.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 12.6 minutes per contest.

The Clippers are trading Bamba, P.J. Tucker, a 2030 second-round pick and cash to the Jazz in exchange for Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills on Saturday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

EDGE Analysis

Bamba has received inconsistent playing time for the Clippers this season, logging five total minutes across the team's previous four outings. The 26-year-old center averages 4.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 12.6 minutes across 28 appearances in 2024-25. Bamba has shown the ability to space the floor and protect the rim, which could allow him to compete for backup center minutes behind Walker Kessler in Utah. However, it would be surprising for him to suit up in Saturday's matchup with Orlando.

Bamba is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Wizards.

EDGE Analysis

Bamba started in the Clippers' last two games, but he'll return to his regular second-unit role here since Ivica Zubac (eye) is back in action. Bamba has played off the bench in 24 of his 26 appearances this season, averaging 4.2 points and 4.3 rebounds across 12.5 minutes per game in those instances.

Bamba amassed 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt) and seven rebounds across 15 minutes during Monday's 112-99 loss to the Bulls.

EDGE Analysis

Making a spot start at the five for the Clippers on Monday, Bamba was serviceable during his 15 minutes of action in what was his first appearance with the first unit this year. The veteran big man did lose considerable center minutes to Nicolas Batum and Kobe Brown from Los Angeles' second unit, though. If Ivica Zubac is able to return from an eye injury in time for Wednesday's showdown with the Celtics, Bamba would certainly be slated to revert back to the bench.
