Gbinije was assigned Sunday to the D-League's Grand Rapids Drive, Rod Beard of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Both Gbinije and Henry Ellenson are slated to spend the week with the Drive, so the earliest they could be back with the Pistons would be for Saturday's outing versus the Nuggets. Gbinije has seen action in just three of the Pistons' first six games and could be a regular in the D-League in order to aid in his development and get him some additional playing time.

Gbinije is inactive for Wednesday's season opener against the Raptors, Aaron McMann of MLive Media Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
The second-round pick is a healthy scratch, as the Pistons can only have a certain amount of bodies listed as active. Gbinje will likely spend the majority of his rookie campaign in the D-League with the Grand Rapids Drive, so he likely won't have the opportunity to see fantasy worthy minutes on most nights.

Gbinije is likely to spend most of his rookie season in a reduced role, MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gbinije was limited for most of the summer by a sprained ankle, which prevented him from working at full speed in advance of training camp. In an effort to simplify things for the rookie, coach Stan Van Gundy has moved him from point guard to the wing, a decision he described as "temporary but necessary." At 6-7, Gbinije has the size to play the two or the three, and he proved in is final year at Syracuse that he can also be a primary ball-handler. Where he fits long-term remains to be seen, but Gbinije will be groomed as a wing player initially, and he'll likely see considerable time in the D-League this season, given Detroit's considerable backcourt depth.

Gbinije agreed to a three-year deal with the Pistons Thursday, Shams Charania of The Vertical reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite coming off a senior season at Syracuse where he averaged 17.5 points per game and shot 40 percent from behind the arc, Gbinije was expected to be fighting for a spot on the Pistons' roster after being drafted 49th overall by the team. An ankle injury a couple weeks ago then forced him to be ruled out for the remainder of summer league, and his NBA chances looked even more bleak. Nevertheless, it's clear the Pistons believe in 6-foot-7 wing and will give him a deal before training camp even begins. He contributions this season will likely be minimal, however, with Detroit currently crowded at the shooting guard and small forward positions.

Gbinije was diagnosed Monday with a sprained right ankle and will miss the remainder of summer league play, MLive.com's David Mayo reports.
EDGE Analysis
The second-round pick suffered the injury during Saturday's practice and will now miss out some vital opportunities to impress the Pistons brass. He should be ready to go for training camp, but missing out on playing in the summer league likely hurts his chances of winning a roster spot.

Gbinije suffered a right ankle injury at practice Sunday and will have an X-Ray performed, Keith Langlois of Pistons.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's a tough start for the 49th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Gbinije reportedly rolled his ankle on a teammates foot, thus it's likely just a minor sprain. He'll have an X-Ray performed following the practice, which should indicate the severity. While it's unlikely to be anything serious, Gbinije still could miss time with the team's summer league if any swelling or lingering pain occurs.
