Thornton posted 21 points (8-16 FG, 5-9 3Pt), two rebounds, and two assists in 31 minutes during the Rockets' 109-89 loss versus the Heat on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The Rockets elected to go small given that Terrence Jones (face) was forced to sit, and Thornton was the only guy who could get it going on Sunday. This performance may bode well for his role going forward, but when the Rockets' front-court returns to full health, Thornton is highly unlikely to see so many minutes.

Thornton will start Sunday's game against the Heat, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
With both Dwight Howard and Terrence Jones sidelined, the Rockets are going with a three guard lineup. Thornton will move into the starting lineup, joining Ty Lawson, James Harden, Trevor Ariza and Clint Capela. Thornton has yet to play so far this season, so this marks his season debut. As soon as Howard or Jones returns, Thornton will return to a bench role.

Thornton put up 16 points (6-13 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, two assists and a steal in a 120-100 win over the Pelicans on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Thorton has not been shy this preseason, putting up at least 13 three times so far. There's simply not enough ball to go around when the regular season starts for Thorton to be putting up double-digit shots, so why not get it in now? Thorton will have a hard time cracking 15 minutes per game in this deep rotation and that makes his fantasy relevance low to say the least.

Thornton (eye) tallied 13 points (5-16 FG, 3-11 3Pt) two assists, three rebounds, and a steal over 29 minutes in Saturday's 105-100 loss to the Heat.
EDGE Analysis
Thornton was highly aggressive from the field for a third consecutive contest, but not very efficient in the process. The veteran has shot under 50 percent from the field in all four straight exhibition games, and remains buried at the bottom of the shooting guard depth chart as the preseason draws to a close.

Thornton is expected to miss Tuesday's preseason game against the Suns with a suspected eye injury, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thornton took a teammate's finger to the eye during Monday's practice, and it appears the Rockets are just holding him out as a precaution. The one-game absence isn't expected to dramatically harm him in his bid for a roster spot.

Thornton tallied 17 points, five rebounds, one assist, and two steals in a preseason 123-119 loss to the Magic on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Thornton seems to be wandering from team to team in the back-none of his career and this fit doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Not only does he do the same things as Jason Terry, he'll be deep in the rotation with all the guard depth the Rockets currently have. It's tough to see Thornton cracking a significant role with the team and his value is limited at best.

Thornton agreed to a one-year contract with the Rockets on Sunday, Mark Berman of Fox 26 reports.
Thornton will join the Rockets on a veteran's minimum deal. He started the 2014-15 season with the Celtics, but eventually was traded to the Suns. In a combined 48 games, Thornton finished with season averages of 7.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.6 steals while playing 15 minutes per game. Thornton likely won't see much of a boost in minutes by coming to the Rockets, as James Harden sits above him in the depth chart. Expect him to remain very limited in his fantasy value moving forward.

Thornton spent most of 2014-15 with the Boston Celtics, but was traded to the Phoenix Suns in February. In nine regular season games for the Suns he averaged 3.6 points, 0.2 three-pointers, 0.2 assists, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.7 steals in nine minutes per game. The shooting guard is an unrestricted free agent this summer.
After being traded from the Celtics, Thornton had a minimal role with the Suns, coming off the bench behind Brandon Knight and Gerald Green. The 28-year-old seemingly can't find an extended role for a team, playing on five different teams over the last six years, and is entering free agency this summer as well. Thornton has little fantasy utility unless he earns a larger role and more minutes for a team.

Thornton (ankle) will not play Tuesday against the Clippers, Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic reports.
Thornton will end the season having missed each of the final four games. He struggled to fit in in Phoenix after coming over from Boston, as he averaged only 3.6 points in an average of 9.0 minutes across nine appearances. Thornton is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Thornton is dealing with an ankle injury and won't play in Sunday's game against the Spurs, The Arizona Republic reports.
This is the first news of an ankle injury for Thornton and he should be considered day-to-day ahead of Tuesday's regular season finale against the Clippers.
