While Ginobili, himself, had remained quiet about his future in the NBA, the writing has been on the wall for the last few months suggesting that the veteran and future-Hall-of-Famer was seriously considering stepping away from the game. The 41-year-old appeared in 65 games for the Spurs last season, averaging 20.0 minutes per game -- his most since 2014-15 -- and providing 8.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest. Ginobili, a two-time All-Star and two-time Third Team All-NBA selection, will retire as one of the greatest international players in league history. He currently ranks eighth all-time in career postseason games played, and he's among the top 100 in NBA history in three-pointers made (29th), steals (58th), Player Efficiency Rating (65th), win shares (70th), and Value Over Replacement Player (36th). The four-time NBA champion was also a key piece in Argentina's 2004 gold-medal-winning team at the Athens Olympics.

Ginobili is seriously considering retirement and is slated to meet with coach Gregg Popovich to discuss his future, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Ginobili and the Spurs fell out of the playoffs Tuesday, going down to the Warriors in a surprisingly close encounter. The Spurs made a late charge but just didn't have the firepower to compete with the Warriors and will now head into the off-season with a number of questions hanging around their team. Ginobili may have played his last game in the NBA but that remains to be seen as he will decide whether or not he wants to come back for one more season. Either way, he has been a true champion for both the Spurs and the NBA and fans around the world will be sad to see him leave, if he, in fact, decides to call it a day.

Ginobili scored 16 points (5-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT) while adding five assists and three rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 103-90 win over the Warriors in Game 4.

Ten of his points came in an inspired fourth quarter, as Ginobili all but willed the Spurs to victory in what could well be his final playoff game in San Antonio before the 40-year-old rides off into the sunset. Playing Golden State seems to bring out the best in Ginobili -- his last four postseason games with 15 or more points have all come against the Warriors -- so don't be surprised if he has another strong performance left in him for Tuesday's Game 5.

Ginobili registered 10 points (4-9 G, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three assists, two rebounds and two steals across 23 minutes during San Antonio's 116-101 loss to the Warriors in Game 2 of their Western Conference first-round playoff series.

The playoff-savvy veteran has been efficient during the first two games of the series, with Monday's production bringing his averages to 9.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.5 steals across 20.0 minutes. Ginobili has shot an impressive 46.7 percent, as well, including 40.0 percent from three-point range. The 16-year veteran is likely to continue seeing a similar role throughout the balance of the series, which shifts to San Antonio for Game 3 on Thursday.

Ginobili posted 17 points (5-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, five assists and a steal in 27 minutes during Monday's 98-85 win over the Kings.

EDGE Analysis

There's no question that Ginobili knows how to win games, and as the Spurs clinched their 21st straight playoff berth, Ginobili was relishing every point he poured in to aid the effort. While the team is packed with talent there's little doubt that the team will lean on the 40-year-old, who has more playoff experience than any other player on the team, with Tony Parker being the sole exception.

Ginobili tallied 17 points (7-7 FG, 3-3 3Pt), three rebounds, an assist and a steal in 19 minutes during Saturday's 116-105 win over the Trail Blazers.

EDGE Analysis

Ginobili threw in three long-range balls to go along with his perfect 7-for-7 shooting performance. The veteran is still contributing at a high level, and it will be interesting to see how he is utilized when every game counts and he doesn't have the luxury of the rest days he often received this season. Conventional wisdom says that it could hurt his value come playoff time, but second-guessing a Spurs playoff team has proven to be a fool's errand as they always play tough.

Ginobili is out for Wednesday's tilt against the Lakers due to rest, Paul Garcia of TheSportsDaily.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Ginobili will get Wednesday night off, which comes on the second half of a back-to-back set. He's also played 11 games in a row -- one of his longest stretches of the season -- averaging 7.1 points, 2.2 assists and 2.2 rebounds across 18.7 minutes during that span. His next opportunity to take the floor arrives Saturday against Portland. In his stead Wednesday, Bryn Forbes and Brandon Paul could see some extra run.

Ginobili recorded 10 points (2-4 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three rebounds and two steals in 14 minutes during Thursday's 103-99 victory over the Thunder.

EDGE Analysis

Ginobili only saw 14 minutes of action but was in down the stretch and sealed the win with a pair of clutch free-throws. He is a shadow of the player he once was but with the Spurs in a battle every night, he could be worth a look in deeper leagues if you need occasional scoring with a bit of everything else thrown in.

Ginobili produced 18 points (6-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 5-5 FT), fiver rebounds and three assists in 27 minutes during Friday's 124-120 win over the Jazz.

EDGE Analysis

When given ample opportunity, Ginobili is perfectly capable of turning back the clock and delivering a solid stat line. In his past five games, he's seen an average of almost 21 minutes on the floor to get things done. Whether we'll see the 39-year-old next season is anyone's guess, but coach Popovich has made it clear to Ginobili and Tony Parker that his younger guys will see more time moving forward.
