Undrafted in 2017 after four seasons at Louisville, Mathiang spent most of last season with the G-League's Greensboro Swarm. He started 36 of his 43 games, averaging 10.8 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks while shooting 51.9 percent. He'll presumably attempt an NBA comeback after refining his skills overseas.

Mathiang was waived by the Hornets on Wednesday.

Mathiang has only appeared in three games for the Hornets this season, and likely will remain a deep bench option for Thursday's outing.

This was the 25-year-old's second time reaching the 20-point mark and tenth double-double this season. Mathiang has been an inconsistent scorer for the Swarm though. If the former Louisville forward can score in double digits consistently, he is very capable of a double-double night in and night out, as he is averaging 9.2 rebounds this season.
