Newman continues to benefit from RJ Nembhard's absence this month. Across three G League games, the 24-year-old has averaged 21.3 points on a 47.2 field goal percentage.

Newman logged 18 points (7-14 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 3-6 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists and one steal across 34 minutes during Friday's 95-90 win over the Maine Celtics.

Newman logged a start in place of an unavailable RJ Nembhard. If the latter remains out, Newman's statistical output will improve like it did Friday. Newman is one of few promising Charge players they have.

Since Newman logged a 21-point stat line on Jan. 11, RJ Nembhard has been starting in place of him. The backup's statistical output continues to decline following that change.

Despite no longer being a part of the Cleveland Cavaliers roster, Newman remains a valuable contributor to their G League team. He was its primary ball distributor and secondary scorer Tuesday. Concerning the latter role, Justin James or Tre Scott are capable scorers who could significantly affect Newman's future G League scoring output.

The Cavaliers didn't re-sign Newman after his 10-day contract expired Saturday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
