Babbitt has been acquired by the Heat in exchange for a future 2nd-round pick and cash.
EDGE Analysis
The move will send New Orleans' own 2nd-round pick in 2018 back to the Pelicans in addition to cash. With the departures of Dwyane Wade and Luol Deng, Miami was in need of a wing to add depth next to Justice Winslow. Babbitt averaged 7.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 18 minutes per game during the 2015-16 season for the Pelicans.

Babbitt (illness) will not play in the Pelicans' regular season finale Wednesday against the Timberwolves, John Reid of the Times-Picayune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Babbitt joins a lengthy Pelicans injury list that's bordering on laughable as the season comes to a close. The former Nevada standout has struggled to find a niche, overall, in the NBA, but he's taken on a larger role over the last month, due in large part to the team's aforementioned injuries. In six April contests, Babbitt is averaging 15.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 52.6 percent from beyond the arc.

Babbitt will draw the start in Monday's matchup with the Bulls, Brett Dawson of The Advocateno reports.
EDGE Analysis
After coming off the bench for the previous three contests Babbit will return to a starting Role Monday. The Pelicans are going with a small lineup, so he will likely matchup with either Mike Dunleavy or even Nikola Mirotic. He should obtain a relatively high workload.

Babbitt compiled 16 points (5-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-6 FT), eight rebounds, and four assists in 33 minutes during the Pelicans' 104-97 loss to the Celtics on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Babbitt came off the bench on Wednesday while James Ennis earned the start, but Babbitt played only one less minute than Tim Frazier (ankle), who came off the bench to play a team-high 34 minutes for the Pelicans. Babbitt has scored in double figures during seven straight contests, and in nine of the last 10. Given the incredible amount of injuries that the Pelicans are dealing with, Babbitt is likely to continue seeing plenty of playing time over the team's last four bouts.

Babbitt will move from the starting lineup to a bench role for Wednesday's game against the Celtics, Jennifer Hale of Fox Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Babbitt has started the past few games for a Pelicans team that has been decimated by injuries this season. His move to the bench can likely be chalked up to head coach Alvin Gentry trying out a different lineup. It's remains to be seen if Babbitt will return to the starting lineup in the final few games of the season, but he should still be expected to play a large role off the bench.

Babbitt scored 16 points (7-16 FG, 2-3 3Pt) while pulling down eight rebounds with three assists over 31 minutes in Tuesday's 107-93 loss to the 76ers.
EDGE Analysis
Another player benefiting from New Orleans' diminished roster, Babbitt has been getting more playing time since mid-March and has shown enough promise to warrant it for the rest of the season. Over the last six games Babbitt has scored in double figures and has hit at least two shots from distance in five of those six contests.

Babbitt scored a team-high 21 points (8-15 FG, 2-3 FT, 3-5 3Pt) while adding four assists, a rebound and a block across 33 minutes during Sunday's win over the Nets.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old exploded for a stat-stuffing performance in his previous outing, and while he didn't offer the same type of across-the-board production Sunday, he showed that he could be in for a strong finish to the season if he is able to retain his newly-awarded spot in the starting lineup.

Babbitt compliled 22 points (9-25 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block over 36 minutes in Thursday's 101-95 victory over the Nuggets.
EDGE Analysis
He capitalized on the starting opportunity afforded him by coach Alvin Gentry, posting his first double-double of the campaign and taking a season-high 25 shots in the process. Babbitt was encouragingly aggressive on offense throughout all four quarters, even draining a pair of three-pointers for the third time in the last four games on six tries from beyond the arc. It remains to be seen if Babbitt's starting role will extend into coming games, but he's now tallied six double-digit scoring efforts in the last seven contests, despite coming off the bench in some of those games.

Babbitt will start in Thursday's game against the Nuggets, John Reid of the Times-Picayune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Babbitt has been in and out of the starting lineup due injury decimated Pelicans roster. However, this start is due to head coach Alvin Gentry moving Alexis Ajinca to the bench in favor of Babbitt. It's unclear if he'll continue to start over Ajinca for the rest of the season, but he does figure to see a minutes increase while he's in the starting lineup as opposed to coming off of the bench.

Babbitt had 14 points (4-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 24 minutes during the Pelicans' 99-91 win against the Knicks on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Babbitt was efficient on Monday, scoring 14 points or more for the fourth time in the last five games. He is averaging 13.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 28 minutes per appearance during this span, and could very well continue starting for the remainder of the season given all the Pelicans' injuries.
