Montero hasn't appeared in a game for the Trail Blazers since Nov. 5 against the Grizzlies.
EDGE Analysis
Montero has logged just two appearances all season, and has been on the inactive list more often than not. He'll likely be active Monday against the Hawks with Damian Lillard (foot) and C.J. McCollum (ankle) sitting out, but don't expect Montero to take the court unless the game turns into a rout.

Montero has appeared in only two of the Blazers' eight games this season.
EDGE Analysis
The team made Montero inactive for Monday's loss to the Nuggets, something that's been a regular occurrence this season for the undrafted rookie from Westchester Community College. Look for him to spend ample time in the D-League this season.

Montero will forego playing for the Dominican Republic national team in FIBA Americas to focus on being ready for the NBA season, the Oregonian reports.
EDGE Analysis
Montero is a 6-7, 185-pound guard who played on the Trail Blazers' summer league team before getting. NBA teams are infatuated with longer wingspans these days, finding height in players' length instead of their standing height, and Montero has a 7-1 wingspan to help make him fit the mold of what most teams want out of wing players in the modern game. The Blazers are interesting this season, because there's no strong read on how exactly the team is going to go about playing all of their duplicative talent, and Montero is most intriguing because he's essentially a complete unknown. We're pegging him as a bench warmer this season, but if the Trail Blazers have significant injuries, there's always a chance Montero could be a daily-games star from time to time.
