Making his third straight start due to Lauri Markkanen (illness) being sidelined, Filipowski delivered his third double-double of the season. Since shifting into the starting five, the second-year big is averaging 13.3 points, 7.7 boards, 3.0 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.0 threes in 26.7 minutes while shooting 52.9 percent from the floor.

Filipowski ended with 19 points (9-15 FG, 1-3 3Pt), seven rebounds, four assists and three steals over 31 minutes during Wednesday's 128-126 loss to the Bulls.

EDGE Analysis

Getting his first start since Jan. 1 with Lauri Markkanen (illness), Jusuf Nurkic (toe/rest) and Kevin Love (rest) all out of action, Filipowski produced his best scoring effort since Dec. 23. The second-year center has plenty of fantasy appeal when he gets a chance to play big minutes, but Filipowski has seen more than 25 minutes just twice in 11 games since Christmas, averaging 7.2 points, 4.6 boards, 1.5 assists and 1.6 combined steals and blocks in 19.0 minutes during that stretch.

Filipowski made his first start since Jan. 1, replacing Jusuf Nurkic, who wound up being a DNP-Coach's Decision Wednesday. Filipowski had a productive outing, exceeding the 18-point milestone for just the fourth time this season. He had been in a minor slump leading up to Wednesday's game, averaging 4.5 points and going 8-for-24 (33 percent) from the field over his last four games.

Filipowski had two points (1-6 FG) and five rebounds in four minutes during Wednesday's 129-125 overtime loss to the Thunder.

EDGE Analysis

Filiowski was terrible Wednesday, logging a season-low four minutes. Seen as a likely silly-season winner, Filipowski's numbers over the past month have been far from ideal. In 13 appearances during that time, he has averaged 8.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in 20.8 minutes per contest, leaving him well outside the top 250 in standard formats.

Filipowski is not in the Jazz's starting lineup against the Warriors on Saturday.

Even with Jusuf Nurkic (toe) missing a second straight game, Filipowski will operate in a reserve role Saturday while Kevin Love draws the start at center. Filipowski has started in seven of the Jazz's last 13 games, and over that span he has averaged 10.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 0.8 steals over 25.0 minutes per game.

Filiowski remained on the bench Saturday, continuing what has been arguably the strangest rotation in the league to this point. In 14 games over the past month, Filipowski has averaged 11.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 0.9 three-pointers in 25.9 minutes per contest. Where the confusion starts is when trying to determine his exact role, having started in six of the past 14 games, typically when others are resting. At this stage, Filipowski should be viewed as a stash in standard leagues, at least until the direction in Utah becomes a little clearer.

Filipowski is not in Utah's starting lineup against Detroit on Friday.

The second-year center has been in the starting five for six of 10 games in December, averaging 12.7 points, 7.8 boards, 2.1 assists, 1.1 threes and 1.2 stocks in 27.9 minutes while shooting 55.8 percent from the floor.
