Richardson twisted his ankle during Wednesday's loss to the Magic and will be getting treatment for it on Thursday with the hopes of playing Friday against the Thunder, Rich Hofmann of The Athletic reports.

With Joel Embiid (knee) out of the lineup, the Sixers' backcourt carried more of the scoring load than usual. Richardson's 19 points were his second-highest total of the season so far, but he's been a steady source of long-distance shooting in his first year with Philly -- the 26-year-old has drained at least one three-pointer in nine straight games.

Richardson posted 17 points (7-17 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five assists, one rebound and one steal in Tuesday's 98-97 win against the Cavaliers.

Despite the production, Richardson was not able to shoot the three-ball effectively (1-of-8). This is not a rarity for the 26-year-old, who is shooting a mere 26.5 percent from three this season, far lower than his career average of 36.4 percent. Although Richardson hasn't shot the ball well from three, he still puts up 12.3 shots per game and is a key part of the Sixers' offense.

Richardson ended with 24 points (8-13 FG, 2-6 3Pt 6-6 FT), four rebounds, four assists, and three steals in 35 minutes during Wednesday's 106-104 loss to the Jazz.

EDGE Analysis

Richardson scored 24 points in Wednesday's loss, adding a team-high four assists. Ben Simmons (shoulder) left early which meant the ball was in Richardson's hands a bit more. If Simmons is forced to miss additional time, Richardson could see a nice bump in his production. He is currently putting up top-80 numbers on the season and that would appear to be his floor moving forward.

Richardson recorded 17 points (7-15 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block in 36 minutes Saturday in the 76ers' 129-128 win over the Trail Blazers.

With Joel Embiid (suspension) out, Richardson sported a 22.7 percent usage rate in the contest, a small uptick from his season-long mark. While the added responsibility on offense allowed Richardson to tie his season highs in scoring and assists, he also turned the ball over five times. He'll again be in line for a slightly elevated role Monday in Phoenix as Embiid serves the final game of his suspension.

Richardson (toe) wasn't listed on Saturday's injury report.

Richardson's availability doesn't appear to be in jeopardy for Saturday's tilt with Portland despite the fact that he missed Thursday's practice due to toe soreness. In four games this year Richardson is averaging 13.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.3 blocks in 33.0 minutes.

Richardson was apparently held out of Thursday's session for precautionary reasons, and the 76ers don't expect the issue to affect his availability for Saturday's game in Portland. Through four games this season, Richardson is averaging 13.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and a combined 3.1 blocks and steals in 33.0 minutes.

Richardson produced 14 points (6-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists, and three blocks in 31 minutes during Monday's 105-103 win over the Hawks.

Richardson had a bit more success with his shot, this after managing to connect on just 33.3 percent of his field goal attempts in each of the first two games this season. Nevertheless, Richardson has impressed as the head of the snake defensively, flustering opposing backcourts with his combination of size, speed, strength, and instincts. Theoretically he could be in line to improve upon last year's shooting percentages given that he's no longer the focal point offensively, but there will likely be an adjustment period.

Richardson recorded 17 points (4-12 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 9-9 FT), six rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and one steal in 33 minutes during Wednesday's 107-93 win over the Celtics.

Richardson struggled from the field but sank all nine of his free throw attempts in the season opener. On the other end of the court, Richardson helped limit Boston's Kemba Walker to 12 points on 18 field goal attempts, so it's safe to say it was an impressive performance overall.

Richardson was outstanding on the defensive end and logged minutes at both backcourt spots as he continues to acclimate to his new squad. The 26-year-old projects for an important complementary role in the coming season along high-usage incumbents Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris and Joel Embiid.
