His four assists were atypical, as he had managed three or fewer dimes in eight straight contests prior to Monday's effort.

In a game neither team had much interest in winning, Jackson carried Detroit offensively as the only Pistons player to top 20 points. He's now reached that plateau in three of the last four games, while averaging 5.0 rebounds per contest in that stretch.

Jackson continued on his merry way during the loss, taking advantage of the fact the Pistons were without a number of regular rotational pieces. After a mini-breakout earlier in the season, Jackson fell out of the rotation before being handed additional responsibility once again, seemingly due to necessity. As long as he is hot, GMs can simply pick him up and ride this out until he cools off.

Jackson finished Saturday's loss to Portland with 21 points (7-12 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 2-4 FT), three rebounds and two assists across 30 minutes.

Jackson was nearly perfect from beyond the arc in the loss, making 5-of-6 tries from deep while the remainder of his team went just 4-for-20. The fourth-year guard is shooting only 31.1 percent from three-point range this season, however, so Saturday's efficient outing isn't likely to be a frequent occurrence moving forward.

Jackson was coming off a scoreless outing Wednesday against the Trail Blazers, but he bounced back in a big way and mustered a season-high 31 points while also carrying the team offensively due to Jerami Grant's off night. The former first-round pick has scored in double digits on a regular basis this season and had a 15-game stretch between Jan. 30 and Feb. 28 in which he averaged 16.9 points per game, so this 31-point outing is just the latest proof of what he can do when his game is on. He's expected to remain in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Knicks, as he seems to have supplanted Wayne Ellington -- at least for the time being.
