Gray hasn't appeared in an NBA game since Nov. 17. It seems unlikely that will change Wednesday, though he may suit up.

Gray has been one of the BayHawks' most prolific scorers in recent games as he's topped 20 points in five of the last six contests while making at least two three-pointers in three of those appearances. The 26-year-old is averaging 22.8 points and 7.5 assists per game this season.

Gray has been one of the most prominent performers for the BayHawks this season, and Tuesday's game was no different as he tied for the team lead with 19 points and logged his second consecutive double-double. The 26-year-old is averaging 23.2 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

Gray had 31 points (11-25 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and four steals over 41 minutes in Thursday's G League loss to Iowa.

Gray had topped 30 points in six of the first eight games of the season, but Thursday's performance marked the first time he did so since Dec. 5. The 26-year-old has been shuffled between the BayHawks and the parent club this season, but he is averaging 24.1 points and 7.9 assists over 21 games in the G League.

Gray was transferred from the Pelicans to the Erie BayHawks on Saturday.

Several injuries on Pelicans' roster caused the team to call up Gray for the last two games. However, he never saw the floor in either contest. He will now return to the team's G League affiliation and work on his game.

Gray will give the Pelicans some extra coverage in the backcourt with JJ Redick (hamstring) ruled out for Monday's game in Detroit and Jrue Holiday (elbow) considered unlikely to play. Even if Gray suits up for the contest, he'll likely fill only a limited role off the bench, as Frank Jackson, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and E'Twaun Moore are likelier candidates to pick up the open minutes at either guard spot.

With the Pelicans enjoying relatively sound health in the backcourt this season, Gray, a two-way player, has been limited to just two appearances at the NBA level. He'll continue to fill a high-usage role for the BayHawks for the foreseeable future, which should translate to big stat lines most nights. Over his 17 appearances (16 starts) in the G League this season, Gray is averaging 24.5 points (on 43.6% shooting from the field), 7.6 assists, 5.2 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.4 three-pointers in 37.2 minutes.

Gray had 18 points (7-22 FG, 2-12 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 11 assists, six rebounds and two steals over 39 minutes in Friday's G League win against Oklahoma City.

After spending one game with the parent club, Gray returned to the G League on Friday and recorded a double-double in his return. He committed six turnovers, but he also led the team with 11 rebounds as he helped the BayHawks secure the win.

Gray was recalled by the Pelicans on Monday.

With the Pelicans not having a game until Friday when they face off against the Lakers, the move seems to be intended to get Gray some additional practice reps with the NBA roster. It's unlikely that he'll join the regular rotation as he's seen just 22 minutes of action across two appearances this season.
