Carter totaled 15 points (6-14 FG, 3-11 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals in 33 minutes off the bench during Saturday's 113-110 double-overtime loss to the Suns.

The Magic leaned heavily on their starting lineup over four-plus quarters, and Carter was the only member of the second unit to play more than 19 minutes or score in double digits. The veteran guard struggled to break into the rotation with Chicago before being waived at the end of January, but in two games for Orlando since the All-Star break he's had a prominent role in the backcourt, averaging 14.5 points, 3.0 assists, 3.0 threes, 2.5 boards, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks in 28.0 minutes.

The Magic signed Carter for the remainder of the season on Friday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

EDGE Analysis

Carter, who was previously waived by the Bulls, is being brought in to provide emergency backcourt depth for Orlando. With the Magic moving on from Tyus Jones, Carter could be the third-string point guard on the depth chart moving forward.

The Bulls waived Carter on Saturday, Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

EDGE Analysis

Chicago acquired Dario Saric in a salary dump Saturday, and it needed to clear a roster spot to make it happen. Carter was hardly utilized this season, appearing in 22 games with an average of 10.6 minutes per contest.

Carter ended Tuesday's 138-110 victory over the Clippers with three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 3Pt) and one steal over four minutes.

EDGE Analysis

Carter played four minutes during garbage time, continuing what has been a season with very little fanfare. Having only appeared in 21 regular-season games, Carter currently sits well outside the top 300 in standard leagues, averaging 5.4 points and 1.4 three-pointers in 11.1 minutes per contest.

Carter registered six points (2-6 FG, 2-5 3Pt), one rebound and one assist over 12 minutes during Monday's 115-101 loss to the Celtics.

EDGE Analysis

Carter saw playing time for the first time in the past three games and for just the third time in the past 13 games. It's been another disappointing season for the veteran, who has been used only in emergencies. In 17 appearances, he has averaged 6.2 points and 1.6 three-pointers in 13.1 minutes per game.

Carter ended with 13 points (4-8 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, two assists and three steals over 22 minutes during Sunday's 123-91 loss to the Warriors.

The Bulls are still dealing with plenty of injuries, but they seem comfortable with Carter playing a strict reserve role amid Tre Jones' (ankle) absence. The veteran point guard has averaged 6.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 14.3 minutes per contest over 14 games, failing to reach the 25-minute threshold in any outing.

Carter logged six points (2-8 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and one assist across 16 minutes during Wednesday's 113-103 loss to the Nets.

The Bulls have been hit pretty hard by injuries, but Carter is still being used quite sparingly. Over his last four appearances, he's seen 10.5 minutes per contest with 2.8 points and 1.3 assists per game.

Carter accumulated 11 points (4-7 FG, 3-6 3Pt), one rebound, one assist and one steal over 18 minutes during Monday's 143-130 loss to the Pelicans.

EDGE Analysis

Carter's offensive production has been very inconsistent, as he has logged duds every other game after turning in a solid shooting performance. He remains buried on the depth chart behind Josh Giddey, Coby White and Tre Jones, but Carter still finds himself in the rotation due to a slew of injuries on the wing.

Carter posted 15 points (5-13 FG, 5-10 3Pt), four rebounds and one assist in 18 minutes off the bench during Monday's 130-127 victory over the Nuggets.

EDGE Analysis

The five threes were a season high for Carter, albeit in only his fourth game, and it was his best showing from beyond the arc since March 31 of last season. The journeyman guard seems to have found a home as a depth option in the Chicago backcourt after playing for four different teams in his first five years in the NBA, but with Coby White (calf) getting close to resuming a full workload, Carter will likely head back to the end of the bench in short order.

Carter finished with 11 points (3-4 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, three assists and two steals over 17 minutes during Wednesday's 124-113 loss to the Pistons.

EDGE Analysis

Carter had arguably his best game in the past 12 months, an indication of how muted his role has become. Chicago was once again without Josh Giddey (ankle), allowing Cater to move into a somewhat meaningful role. While it was great to see the veteran holding his own, this is likely nothing more than an outlier, based on what we have seen from him in recent times.
