Lin (ankle) did not practice Wednesday and is not expected to play in Thursday's preseason game versus the Jazz.
Lin sprained his ankle over the weekend and is easing his way back to full activity. While he's unlikely to play Thursday, teammate Steve Nash (back) suffering another setback should pave the way for Lin to start at point guard for the Lakers this season.

Lin (ankle) is in line to become the Lakers' starting point guard, after Steve Nash's nerve irritation flared up recently, InsideSoCal.com reports.
Coach Byron Scott floated the possibility that Nash will come off the bench when and if he is healthy, saying "I have no doubt in my mind if I went to Steve tomorrow and said I'm going to start Jeremy and the games you're available we're going to bring you off the bench,' he's such a professional that I don't think it will be a problem whatsoever. He just wants to help the team win as much as he can. That's not a concern of mine. But we haven't talked about it." If Scott makes the change, Lin's fantasy value will rise and he becomes a very intriguing mid-late round prospect.

Lin (ankle) did not practice Tuesday.
On Monday, coach Byron Scott said Lin, who sprained his ankle over the weekend, has a 50-50 shot of playing in Thursday's exhibition game. The point guard will likely need to practice in full Wednesday if he's going to suit up against the Jazz.

Lin (ankle) missed Monday's practice but could play Thursday, Mike Trudell of Lakers.com reports.
Coach Byron Scott gave Lin a 50-50 chance of playing Thursday, as the guard is still dealing with a sprained ankle that held him out of action Sunday night. Whether Lin is able to practice Tuesday or Wednesday will likely determine his status for Thursday.

Lin (ankle) will not play in Sunday's exhibition game.
Lin sustained a sprained ankle during Saturday's practice and was seen walking around very gingerly prior to Sunday's contest. He'll be held out, but coach Byron Scott said Lin feels much better Sunday than he did Saturday, which is certainly a positive indication. Consider Lin day-to-day and questionable to play Thursday against Utah.

Lin sprained his left ankle at the end of Saturday's practice.
The 26-year-old will be re-evaluated Sunday morning, but it seems likely the team will take precaution and hold him out of its exhibition matchup against Golden State. Lin has gone 4-for-10 from the field, with seven rebounds and 14 assists in 49 minutes so far in the preseason. He figures to open the regular season as the top option behind Steve Nash.

Lin ended Thursday's game with 14 points (4-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, and four assists in 21 minutes.
Unlike Monday's preseason opener where Lin failed to hit a field goal, the newly acquired point guard failed to miss in this game. Starting in place of the resting Steve Nash, Lin looked a lot better in his first real time with the starting unit and with Nash's resting schedule going to be a consistent thing in the regular season, Lin will provide solid late round fantasy value.

Lin scored just one point (0-6 FG, 1-3 FT), but added three rebounds, 10 assists, and a steal in 27 minutes backing up Steve Nash on Monday.
While Lin's shot obviously wasn't falling, the 10 assists were a good sign. But, with Steve Nash looking good in his 20 minutes, Lin's ceiling may be capped due to the limits in minutes. He is still the better fantasy option at point guard than Nash, but his ability to breakout could be quelled by Nash's return to full health.

Lin is expected to serve as the Lakers' second-string point guard this season, although anticipated starter Steve Nash is slated to receive regular time off throughout the upcoming campaign, the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Lin was previously expected to assume starting duties for the Lakers, who acquired the point guard from Houston earlier this offseason. However, upon new coach Byron Scott stating his preference to start Steve Nash, when available, Lin figures to begin the season off the bench. Nonetheless, Nash is will continue to sit out the second game of back-to-back sets, as well as other occasions this season, so Lin should still see his fair share of starts. Furthermore, given Lin's youth and health, he seems the best fantasy option among Lakers point guards this season.

Lin seems destined to be the starter at point guard this season, although no official announcement has been made, NBA.com reports.
Coming over to the Lakers in the last year of a three-year, $25 million contract, Lin will be looking to have a bounce back from a somewhat disappointing 2013-14 season. With Steve Nash's health an ever present question mark, it's not much of a surprise to see Lin as the starter at point in Los Angeles and should improve on his numbers from last season.
