Jason Richardson returned to action on Friday January 20.

Jason Richardson (knee) and J.J. Redick will both start in Friday's game against the Lakers. Redick gets to stay in the starting lineup because Hedo Turkoglu (back) is out, though it's not outside the realm of possibility for a lineup shakup if Richardson's knee or effectiveness become an issue. We'd hold onto Redick in 8- and 9-cat leagues until it becomes clear he will be the odd man out, because he was providing low-end 3-point shooting value before joining the starting lineup.

Updating a previous item, Jason Richardson (knee) is a game-time decision on Friday. Stan Van Gundy was hopeful that he'd play but Richardson said "it's up in the air still," regarding his return. Richardson described the injury as "a little bit of soreness," but is confident he'll be able to play. If he can't go, J.J. Redick will draw the start once again in his place.

Stan Van Gundy is hopeful that Jason Richardson (knee) will be able to return on Friday against the Lakers. "He was pretty close. Really, we were right up to the walkthrough at 4 o'clock before they made the decision. I would hope Friday night he'd be OK," Van Gundy said when discussing Richardson's status prior to Wednesday's game. Richardson will assume his starting role when he does return and has averaged 11.1 points and 1.3 treys on 43.2 percent shooting.

As expected, Jason Richardson (knee) is out again on Wednesday. Richardson's earliest expected return date is Friday against the Lakers, but that's still not a guarantee. J.J. Redick (14.0 points per game in his last four games) will get at least one more start in Richardson's absence.

Jason Richardson (knee) will not play vs. the Knicks on Monday, and Stan Van Gundy also doesn't expect him to play on Tuesday or Wednesday. In the three games prior to the injury, Richardson was averaging 18.0 points and 2.7 threes. J.J. Redick will start at SG in his absence and is a fine plug-and-play fantasy option.

Jason Richardson (knee) doesn't expect to play in Monday's matinee game vs. the Knicks. Remember that Monday is MLK Day so there are eight games which tip off before 4pm EST. J-Rich has been up-and-down all season and if there's any question about his status he should be shelved in favor of a healthy player.

Jason Richardson's MRI on Friday showed only a bone bruise in his sprained left knee. Richardson is considered day-to-day and J.J. Redick is going to likely get the start in each game that he misses. Given that Richardson's injury doesn't appear to be serious, Redick's time to shine might be limited.
