Varnado was waived by the Sixers on Tuesday, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Varnado was dealing with an Achilles injury and did not travel with the team to Boston for Monday's preseason contest. The 26-year-old is yet to find a long-term home in the NBA, having spent time with the Celtics, Heat, Bulls and Sixers over the past two seasons.

Varnado (Achilles) did not travel with the team to Boston, the Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey reports. He has a sore Achilles and appears to be closer to week-to-week than day-to-day right now.

Varnado (Achilles) continued to be held out of practice Friday, the Bucks County Courier Times reports. Varnado left Thursday's practice and the absence continued into Friday. Despite the time away, this measure still seems to be precautionary when considering that Varnado has a chance to make the Sixers' final roster this season. If he does ultimately stay in Philadelphia, the 26-year-old will provide relief off the bench to Henry Sims and Nerlens Noel.

Varnado left Thursday's practice early due to a sore right Achilles. The big man was likely held out for precautionary reasons, but he'll be examined by the team before returning to action. One of the best shot-blockers in NCAA history, Vernado is yet to find a place in the league since his selection in the second round of the 2010 draft. To date, he's appeared in only 37 NBA games with the Celtics, Heat, Bulls and Sixers.

Jarvis Varnado (heel) played 16 minutes against the Celtics on Monday with four points, one board, one assist and two blocks. He sat out on Saturday due to soreness in his heel and there was no word on his status before the game started. Varnado looked good in the D-League this year for his high block totals and its' translated with 29 blocks in just 22 games with the Sixers. He still has little fantasy value outside of that, though.

Jarvis Varnado will not play at Charlotte on Saturday due to a sore right heel. This leaves Philly even thinner than usual behind starting center Henry Sims, and Al Jefferson should have a field day in the paint. Varnado should be considered day-to-day in advance of Monday's home game.

Jarvis Varnado blocked six shots vs. the Pistons on Saturday with nine points, three boards and one assist in 21 minutes. He's basically the best rim protector on the team, which is by far the weakest part of this Sixers team. Obviously, they have a whole laundry list of weaknesses, but Varnado on the court is a nice fit for the second unit. If you need blocks in a deeper league, he's a player to think about with Byron Mullens (ankle) out.

Jarvis Varnado came off the bench for seven points, three rebounds and four blocks in 16 minutes on Wednesday. It was hit turn for a solid game, while starter Henry Sims hit just 2-of-9 shots for four points, five boards and no blocks. It has to be a pretty deep league if you're looking at owning Varnado, or starting Sims.

The 76ers have signed Jarvis Varnado for the rest of the 2013-14 season. Varnado's deal also comes with a team option for guaranteed money next season, according to reports. The 26-year-old has averaged 15.5 minutes over his past four games and has posted averages of 3.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks during that span. He doesn't have a ton of fantasy value in standard leagues, but Varnado can provide some value for owners in deeper leagues.

Jarvis Varnado played 15 minutes in the Sixers' loss on Sunday, finishing with two points, three rebounds and three blocks. Varnado flashed his potential while averaging 4.7 blocks in the D-League this season, and given the state of Philly's frontcourt he's worth keeping a close eye on in deeper formats. Fellow backup big man Byron Mullens chipped in five points and four rebounds in 14 minutes, while starting center Henry Sims scored 12 points and grabbed seven boards in 31 minutes.
