Coach Dwane Casey said at media day Monday that the starting power forward job is Sullinger's "to lose," Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun reports.

Despite the drop in production, the Celtics could still use some depth in the frontcourt at both the power forward and center position, so they've opted to extend Sullinger a qualifying offer, meaning they can match any offer he receives on the open market. Sullinger's fantasy value would likely remain limited if he does indeed remain in Boston.

Sullinger had two points (1-7 FG), six rebounds, and two assists in 17 minutes during the Celtics' 104-95 overtime win against the Hawks on Tuesday.

EDGE Analysis

Sullinger surprisingly recorded a plus/minus of +8, but he was largely ineffective overall. He has not seen 20 minutes or more in a single contest this series, and Sullinger is managing only 4.8 points, five rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 16 minutes through the first four playoff games. Given how much better Boston has been with Jonas Jerebko starting and playing heavy minutes, Sullinger will likely see limited action going forward versus Atlanta.

Sullinger is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Hawks.

Head coach Brad Stevens will shake up the lineup Friday by moving Jonas Jerebko into the the starting five. Sullinger has struggled through the first two games of the series, shooting 31.6% from the floor and getting into foul trouble. The Celtics will hope moving Jerebko into the lineup will give them a jolt, but Sullinger still figures to see a solid amount of minutes in Game 3.

Sullinger scored six points (3-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt) to go with three rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in 23 minutes during the Celtics' 98-88 win against the Heat on Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis

Sullinger played less than half the game for the sixth straight matchup on Wednesday, and he finished the regular season averaging 19 minutes in April. Sullinger is a capable contributor on offense, but it's on the other end that he'll have to pick up his play if he hopes to receive quality minutes against the Hawks in the postseason, as Al Horford is one of the most versatile centers in the NBA. As it stands, Amir Johnson is a much better defender than Sullinger, and the Celtics go to small-ball lineups featuring Jae Crowder at the four fairly often as well.

Sullinger supplied 20 points (7-13 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 4-6 FT), 12 rebounds, three assists and a steal over 27 minutes in Friday's 109-106 victory over the Warriors.

EDGE Analysis

The four-year pro was an essential part of the Celtics snapping the Warriors' home winning streak, battling toe-to-toe down in the post throughout the night, and even draining a couple of critical three-pointers. Sullinger has consecutive double-digit scoring efforts, and has hauled in double-digit boards in four of the last five games. While his minutes don't typically break 30, he continues to be a serviceable source of scoring and rebounds.
