McCain will start against the Nets on Tuesday, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.

With VJ Edgecombe (illness) and Quentin Grimes (illness) both sidelined, McCain will draw the start for the first time this season. Over his last five games, the second-year guard has averaged 7.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.2 steals in 19.2 minutes per contest.

McCain closed Saturday's 121-114 victory over the Mavericks with 12 points (3-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds, five assists and three steals over 30 minutes.

EDGE Analysis

McCain played a season-high 30 minutes during the win, as the 76ers were without Paul George (rest), Joel Embiid (illness/knee) and Kelly Oubre (knee). The second-year guard also tied his season high in assists. He's now scored in double figures in back-to-back games after failing to do so in five consecutive contests, and McCain is now averaging 7.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 18.6 minutes per game.

McCain provided zero points (0-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt), three rebounds, five assists and two steals in 18 minutes during Sunday's 120-117 loss to Atlanta.

EDGE Analysis

Despite Tyrese Maxey (illness) missing in action the past two games, McCain has remained a fringe part of the rotation in Philly. He saw some extra minutes Sunday with VJ Edgecombe getting into some early foul trouble, but still finished south of the 20-minute mark. McCain isn't getting the playing time he needs to make an impact in fantasy leagues.

McCain finished Sunday's 112-108 loss to the Lakers with eight points (3-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt), one rebound and one assist over 13 minutes.

EDGE Analysis

McCain was able to extend his streak of making at least one three-pointer to 10, and he averages 10.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.0 threes made in that span. McCain will continue to back up Tyrese Maxey, the latter of which has been on an absolute tear offensively.

McCain provided five points (2-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt), four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 28 minutes during Sunday's 142-134 double-overtime loss to Atlanta.

EDGE Analysis

McCain did not have a great night from the field and did not have much of an impact in his 28 minutes, even with the team playing in two overtime periods. On the season, McCain is averaging 6.8 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.3 threes made across 17.1 minutes.

McCain notched 15 points (6-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound and three assists in 25 minutes during Tuesday's 144-103 loss to the Magic.

EDGE Analysis

Ever since being cleared to play 20-plus minutes, McCain has dropped 15 points in consecutive contests, hitting five threes on nine attempts in that span. McCain figures to be one of the main contributors off the bench for Philadelphia this season, and with VJ Edgecombe (calf), Kelly Oubre (knee) and Paul George (ankle) poised to miss some time, he could see himself with a larger role short-term.

McCain's minutes restrictions have been raised ahead of Sunday's game against the Heat, Austin Krell of OnPattison.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

McCain has appeared in six of Philadelphia's past nine games after making his season debut Nov. 4. During that stretch, he's played double-digit minutes three times, never seeing more than 15 on a given night. It's unclear how many minutes he's cleared for Sunday, but with Joel Embiid (knee), VJ Edgecombe (calf), Adem Bona (ankle) and Kelly Oubre (knee) out, McCain may need to play 20-plus minutes.

McCain finished Monday's 110-108 win over the Clippers with no counting stats across five minutes.

EDGE Analysis

McCain played fewer than 10 minutes for the sixth straight game, in three of which he has failed to see the floor. Despite coming off an injury, his return has been largely underwhelming, both in fantasy and reality. At this point, there is no reason to be holding him outside of deeper redraft formats.

The 76ers recalled McCain from the G League's Delaware Blue Coats on Saturday.

McCain joined the Blue Coats for their last two games as he continues to increase his workload after making his season debut in a Nov. 4 loss to the Bulls. The second-year guard has yet to log more than 15 minutes in a single game for the parent club, and the Sixers will likely continue to ease him back into a more sizable role following knee and thumb injuries.

McCain logged 10 points (3-10 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three assists, two rebounds and one steal over 20 minutes during the G League Delaware Blue Coats' 133-126 loss to the Greensboro Swarm on Thursday.

EDGE Analysis

McCain was assigned to the Blue Coats ahead of Thursday's game as he works up his conditioning while recovering from a knee injury. He didn't have the most efficient night in Thursday's G League outing, but the important thing for the second-year pro is that he's able to increase his workload and not suffer a setback. McCain is set to appear in Saturday's G League rematch against Greensboro.
