Jan Vesely missed Wednesday's Summer League game with a sprained right ankle. It's believed to be a minor sprain and Vesely, who could start for the Wizards, should be fine by the start of training camp.

Jan Vesely said that he is devoting his offseason to work on his shooting. "I devote my summer to improve my shooting," he said. "I'll try to refine my shot every day." Vesely admitted that he'll probably never be an "excellent shooter," but he wants to get comfortable with it so he's not afraid to take an open jumper. It's good to see that he wants to improve after averaging 6.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals on 52 percent shooting over 20 starts.

Jan Vesely said that his rookie year was a "hard season for me, a hard fist year." Vesely suffered from a hip ailment right out of the gate, and without training camp, he really struggled to get integrated into the mix right away. However, Vesely excelled down the stretch, averaging 8.5 points on 55.1 percent shooting over 15 games down the stretch. Vesely plans to work on his perimeter shot so he can open things up for himself inside, but he sounds encouraged for next year. When asked about how the end of the season was different from the beginning, Vesely said, "we really worked hard and played team basketball."

Jan Vesely scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting with eight rebounds, three steals, and one block in the Wizards' 104-70 blowout win over the Heat's split squad on Thursday. Vesely and many of his teammates have ended the season on a strong note, which isn't surprising given the trades sending Nick Young and JaVale McGee out while bringing Nene in. John Wall had seven points with two steals and 12 assists, Cartier Martin started and scored 12 points with two steals and two threes, and Kevin Seraphin had 15 points but just three boards in the win.

Randy Wittman heaped praise on Jan Vesely for being more aggressive. "He's putting the ball on the floor. We've seen him shoot from the outside more than we have at any point in the start of the year," said Wittman. Vesley is averaging 8.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals in April and has looked much more comfortable than he did earlier this season.

This is 'bad Vesely,' though the defensive stats buoy the otherwise lackluster line. He's producing enough to be worth a look in 14-16 team leagues, but that's about it.

Jan Vesely had 11 points, 11 rebounds, a steal and a block on 5-of-10 shooting in Saturday's loss. He also had an 11 & 11 dub-dub on Monday, but totaled just five points and 14 rebounds in the two games in between them. He's hit or miss, but is getting heavy minutes and could be worth an add in deeper leagues, but keep in mind the Wiz only go three times next week.

Jan Vesely has made just 3-of-24 shots from beyond nine feet this season. Vesely was the No. 6 overall pick in the draft even though he simply can't shoot. According to beat writer Michael Lee, Vesely's "offensive repertoire is still restricted to layups and dunks." The Czech product has managed just 6.2 points per game in his 11 starts, even though he's logging 25.5 minutes a night in that role.

Vesely had one of his good nights with 10 points, five boards, a steal, and a block on Thursday, and this is one of his bad nights. He needs an offseason to hone his skills, and he'll be facing the dreaded bust label heading into next year.
