The second-round pick might have an uphill battle to playing time at point guard behind the likes of veteran Garrett Temple and first-round pick De'Aaron Fox, but he's certainly making a strong case this preseason. Mason bounced back from a 2-for-9 effort versus the Spurs last Friday to post an exhibition-best 57.1 percent success rate from the field Monday while seeing a preseason-high amount of playing time. He's posted a pair of double-digit scoring efforts through the first three games while also putting some solid rebounding numbers. Mason's brings a well-polished game after four college seasons and could certainly carve out some decent playing time on a rebuilding Kings squad during the coming campaign.

EDGE Analysis

Mason, a second-round pick with four years of collegiate experience, wasted no time adjusting to NBA competition during Monday's debut. His speed and explosiveness was clearly an issue for the Spurs on defense, as they sent him to the line for six free throws. While he's not projected to see significant minutes, Mason is in a great position to earn playing time considering the Kings are in a rebuilding effort.

Mason won't play during Thursday's summer league game against the Mavericks, Jason Jones of The Sacramento Bee reports.

EDGE Analysis

Mason will be getting the night off, presumably for rest. Through four summer league games in Las Vegas, he's averaged 8.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists across 16.5 minutes per game.
