Motiejunas was unable to parlay his stint with the Spurs into a new deal or contract offers from other NBA teams, so he'll look to impress overseas again before potentially returning stateside next spring.

Perhaps head coach Alvin Gentry didn't want to use him in back-to-back games, but Motiejunas looked good in Denver on Sunday when he posted 13 points and eight boards in 19 minutes. Gentry used just three players off his bench in the loss, with his starters logging heavy minutes.

Motiejunas (coach's decision) didn't see the floor in a 101-98 loss to the Spurs on Friday.

EDGE Analysis

Coach Alvin Gentry ran a tight eight-man rotation in a close game Friday, leaving no room for Motiejunas, who only saw six minutes in the team's previous contest Wednesday against the Pistons. With a 27.3 percent mark from three-point range on the season, Motiejunas isn't providing the impact from beyond the arc the Pelicans expected, and his poor defense has generally made him a liability when he's taken the floor. Gentry might be content to explore different reserve options in the frontcourt at this point.

Motiejunas has seen his playing time pick up in the last three contests, with the big man seeing at least 19 minutes in each game. Even so, his averages of 4.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steal during that stretch don't give much of a compelling case to go out and grab him on the waiver wire in deeper leagues where he's available. It may take an extended absence to Anthony Davis before Motiejunas makes much of an impression in fantasy circles.
