Cuttino Mobley dropped his pending lawsuit against the Knicks because he believes it's keeping teams from signing him, a source told ESPN New York's Jared Zwerling.
Mobley retired in 2008 due to a heart condition. He sued the Knicks because he believed they traded for him at the time knowing he wouldn't be able to play due to the condition and hoping to collect insurance money on the rest of his contract. While the lawsuit may not have helped his NBA chances, his age (37) and the heart condition are more logical reasons for why he hasn't been able to get back in the league.

Free agent Cuttino Mobley recently participated in the ASM Sports Pro Day in Las Vegas.
Mobley was forced into retirement in 2008 because of a heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. It's the same ailment that led to the deaths of Reggie Lewis and Hank Gathers. Mobley now says he is fully cleared and wants back in the NBA. But at age 37, it's highly unlikely to happen.

Cuttino Mobley is reportedly hoping to make a return to the NBA.
Mobley, now 37, hasn't played in the NBA since 2008, and we can't imagine a team is willing to roll the dice on a 37-year-old who hasn't been in the league in five years. Mobley will work out for teams on May 31, and other notable participants include Josh Howard, Christian Eyenga and Rasual Butler.

Cuttino Mobley has filed an amended complaint against Madison Square Garden, regarding the way he was treated after being diagnosed with a heart condition.
Mobley's last complaint was thrown out and this may not gain any traction, but he's clearly embittered toward MSG and the Knicks. He suggested last year that he would attempt a pro-basketball comeback, but that never manifested, and he's otherwise been busy with business ventures (including a foray into marijuana dispensaries).

Cuttino Mobley is suing the New York Knicks, claiming that the team forced him to retire in 2008 due to his heart condition.
Mobley was dealt from the Clippers to the Knicks that season. He had previously admitted that resuming his career was a "pipe dream" due to the condition, but his claim is that New York tried to save money by getting him to retire.

Cuttino Mobley, who is hoping to return to the NBA despite a chronic heart ailment, has helped to finance a $1.6 million loan for medical marijuana dispensaries in Maine.
Mobley intended to open dispensaries in Rhode Island, but legal hurdles have (at least temporarily) scuttled those plans. On Wednesday he co-founded the "Wellness and Pain Management Connection LLC," which on Thursday provided financing for Maine-based dispensaries, at 8.5% interest plus consultation fees. He said he is interested in helping people, and by NBA standards this sounds like a decent business move, but it may not help his longshot bid to make an NBA roster.

Cuttino Mobley hopes to return to the NBA despite the chronic heart condition that forced him into retirement in 2008.
Mobley admits that resuming his 11-year NBA career is a "pipe dream," but he still loves the game and feels he can contribute. He remains bitter toward the Knicks for the way they handled the situation, but he still has some opportunities -- he turned down a chance to play in Poland last year, and nearly signed with a team in the D-League.
