Bosh (claf) will resume taking blood thinners to treat a blood clot in his leg, Tim Reynolds of NBA.com reports.

Bosh will begin to take the new medication in hopes that he can return to the court this season at some point. Athletes are usually discouraged from participating in contact sports while taking blood thinners, so the Heat's big man could miss an extended period of time. Bosh missed the final 30 games of last season due to a blood clot in his lungs and was not even given an option to return to court, suggesting that the clotting in his leg now is far less severe than the clotting he dealt with last season. Regardless, he could see a significant leave of absence depending on doctor's orders. Except Josh McRoberts and Amar'e Stoudemire to inherit most of his minutes.

Bosh is dealing with another blood-clotting incident in his left calf and will undergo further medical examinations Thursday to determine whether or not he'll be able to return this season, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports.

Bosh previously had a clot which originated in his calf and moved up to his lungs last season, ultimately forcing him to miss the final 30 games of the 2014-15 campaign. This new instance started as a strained calf, holding him out of the All-Star festivities this past weekend, but further examinations have unveiled something more serious. His Thursday consultation will reveal whether or not blood thinners could alleviate the clotting and allow him to return at some point this season.

Bosh is undergoing further testing on his calf, but there's growing concern he's dealing with something more severe than a strain, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

The Heat have yet to unveil the results of Bosh's medical tests and his past history with blood clots understandably has the organization on high alert. Fortunately Miami doesn't play again until Friday against Atlanta after Bosh was confined to the sidelines during All-Star weekend.

The news comes as surprising, as it was assumed Bosh was healthy heading into the All-Star break. The severity of Bosh's injury is currently unknown, but updates regarding the forward's status should come later. Al Horford will replace Bosh on the Eastern Conference team Sunday.

Bosh had a season-high seven turnovers in this game against the hounding Spurs' defense. He's usually very careful with the basketball, but this simply wasn't Bosh's night as he was matched up against LaMarcus Aldridge. Bosh is still one of the best power forwards in the game and this shouldn't deter you from playing him anytime soon. Keep rolling out Bosh in every single fantasy format, but in DFS, it would be wise to choose him in favorable matchups only.

Bosh scored 20 points (5-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 8-9 FT) while adding six rebounds, five assists, a steal and a block in 35 minutes during Friday's win over the Bucks.

EDGE Analysis

He's closing out January in style, averaging 22.0 points, 5.7 boards, 2.8 assists and 1.3 threes over the last six games. His increasing reliance on the three-point shot is starting to cost Bosh rebounding opportunities, but his overall production remains solid. He'll try to keep rolling Sunday as the Heat look for their fourth straight win when they host the Hawks.

Bosh recorded 27 points (12-18 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five boards, and four assists across 32 minutes in Tuesday's 102-98 win over the Nets.

EDGE Analysis

Bosh and Dwyane Wade both chipped in 27 points to combine for more than half of the Heat's scoring. It marked the eighth time in 15 games this month that Bosh has cleared 20 points, but his declining rebounding totals are beginning to become a concern. He's averaging just 6.6 per contest in January, and hasn't pulled down more than seven boards in any of the last three games, despite Hassan Whiteside's absence due to an oblique injury.

Bosh scored 18 points (8-16 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-4 FT) with seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal over 36 minutes in an 89-84 victory over the Bulls on Monday.

Bosh dashed Chicago's chances of victory with a fourth quarter jumper, giving Miami a deciding 86-84 lead with 1:02 left in regulation. While Bosh's torrid late December to early January run wasn't sustainable (Bosh averaged 24.7 points with 7.6 rebounds over 10 games during that period), he has remained a quality source of fantasy production.

Bosh contributed 26 points (9-19 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 7-9 FT), seven rebounds, and one assist in 39 minutes during the Heat's 101-81 loss to the Raptors on Friday.

EDGE Analysis

Bosh's return to Air Canada Centre resulted in a fourth straight loss for the Heat. However, he is averaging 20.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, two assists, one three, 0.8 steals, and 0.6 blocks across 33 minutes per game over the last five contests. Those rebounding numbers are well below his season average, but otherwise Bosh continues to be one of the most well-rounded big men in basketball.

Bosh scored a team-high 18 points (6-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT) with just four rebounds and two assists during 28 minutes in Wednesday's 106-87 loss to the Wizards.

EDGE Analysis

It was clear that Miami struggled with guards Goran Dragic, Beno Udrih and Dwyane Wade all sidelined with injuries, which didn't help Bosh's game. He attempted just 10 shots, which was his lowest total in 12 games. Still, Bosh was efficient enough to produce 18, but didn't give you much on the glass. This is becoming somewhat of a trend, as Bosh is averaging just 4.0 rebounds per game in his last four.
