Babb came to Golden State in the David Lee trade earlier this offseason, but was never really expected to be a contributor in the upcoming season. He's failed to play in a regular season game since the 2013-14 season, so it looks like that may remain the case for the foreseeable future. If he can't find another team to pick him up before the regular season begins on Wednesday, Babb will likely either head overseas or join an NBA D-League roster for the time being.

Like last year, Babb again signed a late season contract with the Celtics. But unlike last season, he never received any playing time. In the 2013/14 season, Babb played in 14 games for the Celtics averaging only 9 minutes of play per game. This year, he never saw the floor and was inactive during the playoffs. At 25 years of age, his window of opportunity is probably closing.

Babb signed a multi-year contract with the Celtics on Monday, the Celtics' official sited reports. Babb has spent the entire season with Maine of the NBA's D-League, averaging 15.4 points (on 43 percent shooting)5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.6 three-pointers, and 0.9 steals in 35 minutes across 45 games. Upon joining the Celtics, the 6-foot-5, 225-pound guard will supply depth on the wing.

Babb is only averaging 2.2 points per game during his time with the Celtics and he hasn't played since March 12, so he faces long odds to stick around now that Avery Bradley is healthy. Even if the Celtics do sign Babb for the rest of the season, he won't provide any fantasy value as a bench player for Boston.

"He's not going to play 38 minutes a game, he's going to come in, get open shots, hopefully knock those open shots down, play off other people, and be a feisty defender for us." That about sums up his role in Boston, and his 3.3 points per game aren't going to help any fantasy owners.
