Brian Roberts projects as the Pelicans' starting point guard while Jrue Holiday (leg) is out indefinitely. Holiday has a stress fracture in his tibia, an injury that can vary greatly in terms of severity and rehab timelines. But Roberts needs to be owned as we await word. In five starts last year, he averaged 12.6 points, 10.0 assists, 3.2 rebounds, 1.4 3-pointers and 0.8 steals. Tyreke Evans also gets a major boost as he'll see a boost in both minutes and time with the ball in his hands.

Brian Roberts started at shooting guard Saturday but had just five points and a 3-pointer in 20 minutes. Eric Gordon was out for the second straight game with a hip injury, giving Roberts the start, but he backfired on owners who used him in daily leagues. If Gordon is ruled out long term Roberts could have some value, but for now, he should probably just be ignored in fantasy leagues.

Brian Roberts is starting at shooting guard for the Pelicans on Saturday. He's really just a placeholder for Eric Gordon and doesn't have much fantasy value while Jrue Holiday is healthy. Roberts hasn't really improved as a passer this year and has cooled off after an eye-catching 2012-13 season. Tyreke Evans should have a good game tonight.

Brian Roberts was a big part of the offense on Tuesday with 17 points, one board, five assists, three steals, three 3-pointers and no turnovers in 30 minutes. With Jrue Holiday in a slump, coach Monty Williams went with a hot Brian Roberts a little more tonight. Roberts was only playing 15.3 minutes per game, and that's tough for one of the best young point guards in the NBA. It'll be tough to own him in standard leagues as a backup, but he would have tremendous value should Holiday ever miss time.

Brian Roberts hit 7-of-11 shots and 4-of-4 3-pointers on his way to 21 points, two rebounds, three assists and a steal off the Pelicans' bench on Friday. They rested the starters and this is simply your yearly reminder that if Jrue Holiday goes down, Roberts is the guy you'll want to pick up immediately. He has never gotten a great opportunity, but usually comes through in a big way when he lands in the starting lineup.

Brian Roberts started at SG and played well for a second straight game after missing the preseason opener with an ankle injury, finishing Wednesday's game with 16 points, three boards, four assists, two steals and a 3-pointer on 5-of-9 shooting. He had 17 points and four dimes in his previous game, but should struggle to play this well in the regular season if Tyreke Evans and Eric Gordon are healthy. He looks like the backup point guard for Jrue Holiday, meaning he would make for a possible last-round flier as a handcuff for Holiday's owners.

Brian Roberts (ankle) said he's doubtful for the team's preseason opener on Saturday. He suffered a sprained ankle on Wednesday, so there's little reason to get Roberts on the court at less than 100 percent. The good news is that he's hopeful to play on Monday. He's one of the better young backups in the NBA, but has minimal fantasy value while Jrue Holiday is healthy.

Brian Roberts (ankle) was held out of practice on Thursday. Roberts turned his ankle in practice on Wednesday and is currently fighting for the backup point guard job with Austin Rivers. Based on last season's play he is the favorite between the two, but it's early.

Brian Roberts sprained his ankle in Wednesday's practice. He was held out of 5-on-5 scrimmages with the team. There's no word on the severity of the sprain, so we'll pass along any updates. Roberts enters the year as Jrue Holiday's backup, so with Jrue's durability and the Pelicans' second unit boasting some serious punch, it'll be tough to target Roberts in fantasy drafts.

Brian Roberts, whose contract for 2013-14 is only partially guaranteed, scored a game-high 20 points in the Pelicans' loss vs. the Bucks on Sunday. The Pelicans have a busy backcourt but they like Roberts and could keep him as PG insurance on a relatively skimpy $789k final-year salary. His deal will be fully guaranteed if he's not waived before July 20.
