The Grizzlies signed Key to a deal Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Key is coming off a campaign in which he was named the G League's Defensive Player of the Year for 2024-25, and he'll be an option to begin the new season with the G League's Memphis Hustle. Last year, the forward averaged 18.4 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.9 steals and 1.0 blocks in 32.7 minutes while shooting 50.5 percent from the floor over G League 33 regular-season contests across time with the San Diego Clippers and Santa Cruz Warriors.

Key logged zero points (0-7 FG, 0-1 3Pt), seven rebounds and one steal across 12 minutes during Wednesday's 131-116 loss to the Rockets in Game 5 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
EDGE Analysis
Key, along with a host of other fringe players, saw additional minutes as the Warriors were soundly defeated. The starters were basically given the second half off, allowing the second and third units to log additional minutes. Golden State will look to wrap up the series at home on Friday.

Key was a menace defensively this year, leading the G League with 2.9 steals per game over 33 regular-season contests across time with both the San Diego Clippers and Santa Cruz Warriors en route to G League Defensive Player of the Year honors. He's made three appearances at the NBA level this season, averaging 3.7 minutes per game.

Key has been named the G League's Defensive Player of the Year for 2024-25, Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Key was a menace defensively this year, leading the G League with 2.9 steals per game over 33 regular-season contests across time with both the San Diego Clippers and Santa Cruz Warriors. After wrapping up the campaign with averages of 18.4 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.0 blocks in 32.7 minutes while shooting 50.5 percent from the floor, Key paced Santa Cruz with a season-high 30 points and 12 rebounds in Tuesday's first-round G League playoff loss to the Valley Suns. The two-way player hasn't made an appearance with Golden State yet this year, but Johnson notes that Key is a strong candidate for the Warriors' 15th roster spot before the NBA playoffs begin.

The Warriors signed Key to a two-way contract Tuesday, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Warriors had an additional two-way spot on the roster after converting Pat Spencer's contract to a standard deal. Golden State has opted to use that spot on Key, who has spent the entire regular season in the G League with the San Diego Clippers, where he is averaging 16.3 points, 9.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.6 steals and 1.1 blocks over 33.4 minutes per game.

The Clippers waived Key on Saturday.

Key will join the Clippers on a training camp deal, according to Law Murray of The Athletic.
EDGE Analysis
Key spent the 2023-24 season on a two-way contract with the Nuggets and has played in The Association with the 76ers and Pistons in the past. That said, he's a long shot to make the roster and should end up playing in the G League.

The Nuggets are declining to extend Key a $1.87 million qualifying offer prior to Saturday's deadline, making him an unrestricted free agent, Vinny Benedetto of The Denver Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Along with Key, the Nuggets also opted not to extend a qualifying offer to fellow two-way player Collin Gillespie, opening up a pair of two-way slots for undrafted rookies Trey Alexander and PJ Hall. In his third professional season in 2023-24, Key appeared in 20 games for the Nuggets and averaged 1.1 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 3.0 minutes per contest, with most of his limited opportunities coming in garbage-time scenarios.

Key contributed no counting stats in one minute during Friday's 111-98 loss to the Timberwolves.
EDGE Analysis
Key, along with his fellow bench warmers, played the final minute of the game Friday. He has yet to play more than six minutes in any game this season, instead serving as a regular member of the cheer squad. Unfortunately, cheering does not translate into fantasy value.
