Pacers' head coach Rick Carlisle said Sunday that Mathurin (thumb) will be out "a while," Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star reports.

Pacers reporter Dustin Dopirak noted that when Carlisle uses the "a while" timetable, it typically means the player will spend at least a week sidelined, and potentially multiple weeks. Therefore, it doesn't sound like Mathurin will be available during Week 12. Aaron Nesmith, Johnny Furphy and Ben Sheppard will all help fill the void while Mathurin is out.

Mathurin finished Friday's 140-122 loss to the Celtics with 13 points (5-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one steal in 30 minutes.

Mathurin was unable to get into a rhythm on the offensive end yet again, scoring fewer than 17 points for a seventh consecutive contest. He has finished in single digits twice during that span and continues to struggle with efficiency. The 23-year-old has shot a lackluster 33.3 percent from the floor over that seven-game stretch.

Mathurin racked up 13 points (3-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 6-6 FT), six rebounds and one assist in 34 minutes during Tuesday's 111-94 loss to Milwaukee.

Mathurin was one of just four Indiana players to score in double figures, though he struggled with efficiency yet again. The 23-year-old swingman has been struggling to find his rhythm of late, shooting just 32.4 percent from the field in his last six appearances. On a more positive note, he was fairly active on the glass Tuesday, grabbing at least six boards for the third time in his last four outings.

Mathurin finished with 16 points (7-18 FG, 2-9 3Pt), eight rebounds, two assists and two steals over 38 minutes during Thursday's 114-113 loss to the Knicks.

EDGE Analysis

Mathurin made only two of nine shots from downtown and didn't attempt any free throws for just the second game this season. The 23-year-old forward has scored in double figures in all but one appearance this season and has gotten off to a solid start in December, averaging 16.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.7 steals while shooting 40 percent from three and 93.1 percent from the charity stripe in 31.9 minutes per game.

Mathurin amassed 15 points (3-9 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 8-8 FT), four rebounds and two assists over 32 minutes during Sunday's 108-89 loss to the Wizards.

The 15 points actually led the Pacers on an afternoon when the team shot a miserable 36.9 percent from the floor and 25.6 percent from three-point range. Mathurin has scored at least 15 points in 10 of 13 games since returning from a toe sprain in mid-November, averaging 18.4 points, 5.2 boards, 2.7 threes, 2.3 assists and 0.8 steals over that stretch.

Mathurin supplied 25 points (7-14 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 7-7 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one steal over 35 minutes during Monday's 116-105 victory over the Kings.

Mathurin has now hit multiple three-pointers in all but one appearance, averaging 21.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.2 blocks and 2.8 threes on a 43.0 percent clip across 32.8 minutes in 13 games this season. He figures to be a prominent feature amongst Indiana's offense and will continue to see heavy usage.

Mathurin provided 28 points (9-16 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals across 38 minutes during Friday's 120-105 win over the Bulls.

Mathurin had been relatively quiet in his previous two outings, but he busted out of his funk in a big way Friday, serving as the second-leading scorer for the Pacers in the blowout win. Mathurin will look to keep the good times rolling with a favorable matchup with Sacramento on Monday.
