Kaba suffered a left ankle injury Sunday while playing for French club ASVEL Villeurbanne and will be sidelined for three months, EuroCupBasketball.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kaba, a second-round pick of the Hawks in 2017, won't require surgery to address the injury but will be immobilized for the next six weeks before he can resume training. The big man, who is averaging 9.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 21 minutes per game in EuroCup play this season, joined the Hawks for summer league in 2018 and could do the same again in 2019.

Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk said Wednesday that Kaba will join Atlanta for summer-league play, KL Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shortly after being selected in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft, Kaba suited up for the Hawks' Las Vegas Summer League entry, appearing in five games and averaging 5.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in 11.2 minutes. Kaba went on to spend the 2017-18 campaign in France with ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne and seems likely to return overseas for 2018-19, unless the 22-year-old proves to the Atlanta brass over the summer that he's worth adding to the NBA roster.

Kaba will play for ASVEL of the French Pro A League during the upcoming season, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kaba was selected by the Hawks with the final pick of the 2017 NBA Draft, but was always considered a draft-and-stash prospect. He's locked into a three-year deal with ASVEL, though it likely has an NBA opt-out if the Hawks eventually want to bring Kaba over to the States during the next few years. The 21-year-old is a long-term prospect for the Hawks.
