Aaron Brooks left Tuesday's game with a sprained left ankle and his return is questionable. He headed to the locker room under his own power and the injury didn't look that bad. Although, the Kings are already without Isaiah Thomas (personal), so it's going to be the Jimmer Fredette Show against the Blazers. The Kings are off until Friday after Tuesday's game.

Aaron Brooks played 20 minutes and closed out the fourth quarter for the Kings, scoring 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting with two assists. Brooks hit a three and stumbled into some offense amidst the chaos that is the Kings "attack." Keith Smart said after the game that he was comfortable with Brooks as his closer, but he typically blows smoke to media during pre- and post-game sessions. Brooks isn't doing enough, regardless, to cause fantasy owners to take notice.

Backup PG Aaron Brooks played seven minutes and did not score after missing five field goal attempts on Friday. Brooks has actually looked fairly good so far this year, but like a lot of guys in Sacramento right now he's playing while looking over his shoulder and without a clear role. He needs a lot to go his way to be worth fantasy consideration in 12-16 team formats. Jimmer Fredette took his minutes tonight, despite allowing many more points on defense over the six points he scored on offense.

Aaron Brooks broke his tooth in Wednesday's game against the Bulls, but he stayed in the game after the injury occurred. Brooks broke his tooth while diving for a loose ball, but he should be fine and we're not worried about his availability. He played 23 minutes in his Kings debut, scoring seven points on 10 shots with one assist before fouling out.

Aaron Brooks started in Monday's preseason game against the Suns, playing 17 minutes on his way to two points on 1-of-4 shooting, no rebounds, four assists, and one block. Beat writer Jason Jones reported that Keith Smart's lineup on Thursday would be his starting lineup for the season, and Jones also predicted that Brooks would start. Other writers aren't so sure, and it's worth noting that Jones thought Brooks was a better player than Isaiah Thomas before seeing him in action once this year. Brooks has had a decent preseason, including better intensity on defense but his limitations there are noteworthy, and he doesn't have a fantasy friendly game to sustain value in low minutes. We need to see more before getting behind him whether he starts or not.

Aaron Brooks hit 4-of-5 shots and a 3-pointer in 18 minutes of Sunday's preseason win over the Lakers, finishing with 16 points, three rebounds and two assists. Brooks is talented, but has to deal with not only starting point guard Isaiah Thomas, but also Jimmer Fredette in order to get enough minutes to make a difference. For now, Brooks has no fantasy value as long as he's locked into a bench role, but he'll be worth keeping an eye on all season long.

Aaron Brooks started at point guard and scored 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting in Monday's preseason win over the Blazers. That was the good, but he struggled on defense and turned the ball over twice to just one assist -- but don't be surprised if the Sac media tries to manufacture a PG controversy. Isaiah Thomas took Brooks' predetermined role as the low-minute guy from the last preseason contest, and Jimmer was given an extended run down the stretch which was predictably a disaster. Above all this game was played with practically no defense, especially by the Blazers, and we'll be looking to the future to figure out where this position battle is heading. As of right now, Thomas is still the favorite to start and get the larger share of minutes.

The Kings and free agent Aaron Brooks have agreed on a contract, according to multiple sources. Brooks himself Tweeted "Sacramento Kings," so this is a done deal, though the terms of the contract aren't yet known. The signing has some very interesting implications -- it suggests that the Kings don't view Isaiah Thomas as ready (or capable, at 5'10") of being their full-time starting PG, it confirms that they don't view Jimmer Fredette as ready (or capable) of being a heavy-minutes PG, and it suggests that they won't move Tyreke Evans back to PG rather than his less-preferred SF position. Brooks could very well start this year, but there's no lack of competition for minutes.

Rockets coach Kevin McHale reportedly met with unrestricted FA Aaron Brooks on Sunday. Houston has a standing offer to restricted FA Jeremy Lin worth about $30 million, but the Knicks will match it. Having lost Goran Dragic and Kyle Lowry this summer, they are understandably eager to woo Brooks, a starting-caliber PG. During his Most Improved Player season in 2009-10, Brooks averaged 19.6 points, 2.5 threes, 2.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 0.8 steals, while starting all 82 games and averaging 35.6.

The Suns withdrew their qualifying offer to Aaron Brooks on Friday. They weren't expected to keep Brooks and we expect him to be picked up pretty soon, with the Rockets being in the lead to obtain his services.
