Carlos Carrasco
SP NYY
Wed 4/30/25 10:32 PM

Carrasco (2-2) came away with the loss against the Orioles on Wednesday, allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out five over 3.1 innings. He did not issue a walk.
EDGE Analysis
All four of the runs Carrasco yielded came in the second inning, three of which came on home runs by Ryan Mountcastle and Ramon Urias. Carrasco has given up four earned runs in three of his last five outings and is up to a 5.90 ERA and 1.48 WHIP over 29 innings. He's lined up to face the Padres at home next week.

Zach Agnos
P COL
Wed 4/30/25 10:31 PM

Agnos gave up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his first career save in a 2-1 win over Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old rookie handled the heart of Atlanta's order on 14 pitches (eight strikes), as he staked his claim to being part of the closer picture for the Rockies. Seth Halvorsen picked up his first hold of the season with a perfect eighth inning, while Tyler Kinley hasn't pitched since Saturday after walked four batters and getting tagged for three runs (two earned) in his last two appearances. Agnos has an impressive arsenal and high-leverage experience in the minors, but so far he's had trouble putting away big-league hitters -- while he has yet to allow a run in 6.1 innings for Colorado, he has just a 1:0 K:BB.

Paul Goldschmidt
1B NYY
Wed 4/30/25 10:25 PM

Goldschmidt went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to Baltimore.
EDGE Analysis
Goldschmidt didn't have the most efficient performance from the plate, but he made up for it in the fifth inning with a solo shot to center field off Cade Povich. Goldschmidt has seven 30-homer seasons in his career but has just two long balls of the season. However, his 42 hits and .356 batting average rank second in the majors behind teammate Aaron Judge (50 hits and .427 average).

Chris Sale
SP ATL
Wed 4/30/25 10:24 PM

Sale (1-3) took the loss Wednesday, giving up two runs on five hits over seven innings as Atlanta was downed 2-1 by the Rockies. He struck out 10 without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran lefty was undaunted by pitching at Coors Field, putting together his best performance of the season on 100 pitches (71 strikes), including a massive 24 swinging strikes. Sale appears to be finding his form after a bumpy beginning to 2025, and over his last four starts he's delivered a 3.48 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 29:8 K:BB through 20.2 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Reds.

Aaron Judge
CF/RF/DH NYY
Wed 4/30/25 10:19 PM

Judge went 3-for-3 with one walk, a two-run homer and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Batting out of the three spot Wednesday, Judge put the Yankees on the board with a two-run homer off Cade Povich in the first inning. Judge reached base safely on each of his next three at-bats, including a single in the seventh inning that brought Oswald Peraza home. After logging one home run over a 20-game span in April, Judge has gone deep in three of his last four outings with six RBI over that span.

Elly De La Cruz
SS CIN
Wed 4/30/25 10:18 PM

De La Cruz went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
The star shortstop then went 2-for-3 with a run scored in the nightcap -- the only run the Reds would score across the entire twin ball. De La Cruz leads the majors with 13 steals through 31 games to go along with a .281/.348/.438 slash line, five homers 21 runs and 24 RBI.

Chase Petty
P CIN
Wed 4/30/25 10:15 PM

Petty (0-1) took the loss in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, surrendering nine runs on seven hits and two walks over 2.1 innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Making his first appearance on a big-league mound, Petty ran into trouble immediately as Willson Contreras launched a slider 421 feet to straightaway center field for a three-run homer in the first inning. While Petty's MLB debut didn't go according to plan, the 2021 first-round pick figures to see more action with the Reds over the summer as the team needs to plus holes in its rotation. Through five outings for Triple-A Louisville prior to his promotion, Petty put together a 3.52 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 27:9 K:BB in 23 innings.

Eric Lauer
SP TOR
Wed 4/30/25 10:15 PM

Lauer didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Red Sox after allowing two runs on three hits and two walks in four innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Lauer made his Blue Jays debut Wednesday, piggybacking off opener Yariel Rodriguez in the second inning. The left-hander landed just 45 of his 77 pitches for strikes, but he did induce 12 whiffs in the process. It remains to be seen what kind of role Lauer will play in Toronto going forward, whether it be as a traditional starter or long reliever, but he should see additional opportunities either way while Max Scherzer (thumb) is on the injured list. Lauer is tentatively set to face the Angels next week.

Lucas Giolito
SP BOS
Wed 4/30/25 10:12 PM

Giolito didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Blue Jays after allowing three runs on five hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
After missing all of last season due to elbow surgery, Giolito registered a quality start in his Red Sox debut Wednesday. The right-hander's fastball touched 96 mph, which is an especially encouraging sign coming off a significant injury. It was equally as promising to see Giolito throw 90 pitches, which also suggests he's mostly stretched out following a five-start rehab assignment due to a hamstring strain to open the campaign. He'll look to build on this performance in his next outing, currently projected for next week versus a Rangers team that ranked 25th in runs scored (102) ahead of Wednesday's action.

Brady Singer
SP CIN
Wed 4/30/25 10:09 PM

Singer (4-1) took the loss in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
The Reds gave him no run support in a 6-0 loss, and Singer tossed only 46 of 92 pitches for strikes, but he still came away with his third quality start of the season. The right-hander has looked very good to begin his tenure in Cincinnati, posting a 3.24 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 36:12 K:BB through 33.1 innings. Singer will look to get back in the win column in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Atlanta.
