Walters (ribs) is day-to-day with rib soreness after an MRI revealed no structural damage, MLB.com reports. "Structurally, he's good, so we know it's a soft tissue issue," manager Terry Francona said. "We just have to see how he responds. The trainers think this might be pretty quick." Walters exited Monday's game early but has apparently been dealing with the injury for a few days now. He's stuck in a 3-for-35 skid at the plate which has really cut into his playing time lately as well.

Walters is out of the Indians' lineup Tuesday against the Astros. Tuesday's absence will mark Walters' eighth in the team's last 10 games. The 25-year-old got off to a great start with Cleveland after being shipped from Washington at the deadline, with six homers in his first 13 games with the club, but he's just 3-for-his-last-35 and will likely only play sporadically over the remainder of the season.

Walters is out of the lineup against the Twins. Walters has been losing playing time lately, as this will mark the fourth time since the start of September that he won't be in the starting lineup. He's struggled for much of the year, slashing just .163/.221/.400 since joining the team, and he's just 2-for-17 this month, so he may continue to lose more starts going forward.

Walters is out of the lineup Sunday against the White Sox, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports. Walters' issues with making contact have loosened his grip on a regular role with the Tribe, as he'll sit for the second consecutive day. The rookie possesses as much power potential as any player on the team, but it'll be hard for him to get on base with any regularity if he continues to strikeout in 35.2 percent of his plate appearances.

Walters is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox, according to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian. Walters started the last three games, but he will get a day off Saturday. Walters has nine home runs in 115 at-bats, but he owns just a .183 batting average and .248 OBP on the season.

Walters is out of the lineup Monday against the Tigers, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Walters was out of the lineup Sunday as well. He has lived up to the reputation of the home run hitter he is since joining the Indians, hitting six in just 63 at-bats. He also has struck out 23 times in 63 at-bats, and is hitting just .175 with the club. He may lose playing time in September with the new call-ups and expanded roster, with Jesus Aguilar getting the start as the designated hitter Monday and batting eighth for the Indians.

Walters provided the heroics in Tuesday's victory over the White Sox, going 2-for-4 with a game-winning two-run homer. With nine homers in just 94 plate appearance in the majors this season, Walters has more than lived up to his billing as a power threat. While he'll continue to enjoy regular at-bats as the team's DH the rest of the way, Walters' long-term potential as an everyday player remains in question due to a lack of contact skills that could make him prone to slumps. He's currently carrying a 33 percent strikeout rate.

Walters went 1-for-3 with a solo homer Friday -- his third in as many days -- as the Indians fell to the Astros. Serving as the Tribe's DH, Walters hit a solo shot against Houston starter Brad Peacock. As long as he continues to swing a hot bat, Walters should benefit from the absence of Nick Swisher during the final five-plus weeks of the season.

Walters homered for the second consecutive game Thursday. Walters has four homers in his last eight games and figures to see ample playing time in the final six weeks with Nick Swisher sidelined for the rest of the season. He's likely middle infield eligible in many formats and provides some power upside.

Walters was 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Cleveland's win over the Orioles on Friday night. He's now got five long ones and has displayed a flair for the dramatic. An infielder by trade, the Indians have used him in the outfield, and he was the designated hitter in this one so his versatility is expanding. The Indians will continue to find a spot for him in the lineup as long as he keeps coming up with key hits.
