Eflin will likely keep his rotation spot when Vince Velasquez comes off the disabled list, Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Velasquez could come off the disabled list as soon as Monday. It will likely be Adam Morgan, and not Eflin, who gets bumped from the rotation to make room for Velasquez. Eflin makes his next start Friday against the Giants.

Eflin (0-2) gave up two runs on four hits and a walk over 5.2 innings Sunday, striking out three, in a loss to the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
While it's a much better line than he managed in his major league debut against the Blue Jays earlier in the week, the end result was still the same. Eflin threw 55 of 88 pitches for strikes but only managed seven swinging strikes as he continues to have trouble fooling big league hitters. He'll next take the mound Friday in San Francisco.

Eflin (0-1) allowed nine runs, eight of which were earned, on nine hits and three walks while striking out two to take the loss Tuesday at the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
After giving up three runs in the first two innings, Eflin was bombed for six additional runs in the third inning, forcing the Phillies' bullpen to pick up 5.1 innings of work. His major league debut was certainly a tough draw, and he'll look to leave a better impression in his next start Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

The Phillies selected Eflin's contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin will start Tuesday against the Blue Jays in Toronto. It is a tough first assignment for the rookie. He was 5-2 with a 2.90 ERA and a 55:11 K:BB in 68.1 innings for Lehigh Valley this season.

Eflin will have his contract selected before Tuesday's game against Toronto, which he is expected to start.
EDGE Analysis
The Phillies optioned Luis Garcia to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to make room for Eflin. This will be the major league debut for the 22-year-old, and it comes against the Blue Jays, one of the best hitting teams in the majors this season (3.25 runs per game). Eflin has a 5-2 record with a 2.90 ERA in 11 minor league starts this season.

Eflin will start Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays for his major league debut, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin will make his start in the place of Vince Velasquez, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday with a right biceps strain. Throughout the 2016 season with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Eflin has compiled a 5-2 record with a 2.90 ERA in 68.1 innings of work. The 22-year-old pitched 5.1 scoreless innings Thursday and has a chance to make an impression against the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Eflin pitched 5.1 scoreless innings for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday. He struck out four and walked three.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin was scratched from his start Wednesday, but that was because the Phillies wanted to give him an extra day of rest. It was not due to the fact the Vince Velasquez left his start Wednesday with biceps soreness. David Buchanan came on in relief of Eflin on Thursday, keeping both pitchers on a schedule that would allow either of them to come up to the majors if Velasquez has to miss his next start.

Eflin is likely the top candidate to replace Vince Velasquez in the Phillies' rotation, Matt Breen of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Velasquez appears to be headed toward a stint on the disabled list after leaving his start Wednesday with biceps soreness. Eflin was scratched from his start Wednesday evening at Triple-A Lehigh Valley where he is 5-1 with a 3.14 ERA and a 51:8 K:BB in 63 innings. He's worth a look in deeper leagues given his success in the minors this season.

Eflin moved to 5-0 with seven scoreless innings Wednesday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He allowed two hits and one walk while striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin lowered his ERA to 2.36 and now has a 39:7 K:BB in 45.2 innings. He has increased his K/9 to 7.7 this season after averaging just 4.7 K/9 last season at Double-A Reading. Eflin told Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com that better fastball command and learning how to setup hitters are the primary reasons for the spike in his strikeout rate this season. He'll be under strong consideration for a promotion to the majors the next time the Phillies need a starting pitcher.

Eflin has been working with Double-A Reading pitching coach Dave Lundquist on throwing his slider with more consistency, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. "I think the biggest thing is I have to learn how to put guys away and how to throw it for strikes," Eflin said. "I've been doing a better job of that this season, and I just have to keep building on it to make it a good pitch." Eflin's slider is already pretty good, but being able to throw it consistently is the key. He uses the pitch as a compliment to his four-seam and two-seam fastballs which range from 89 to 95 mph. He is 5-4 with a 2.76 ERA and a 39:16 K:BB ratio in 78.1 innings this season. The lack of strikeouts limit Eflin's upside as a fantasy asset, but, given his stuff, there is a chance he be able to increase his strikeout rate a bit down the line. He is just 21-years-old, making him one of the youngest players at the Double-A level.
