Escobar is expected to miss the next 1-2 days with a hand laceration that he suffered in Monday's game against the Braves, Mark Zuckerman of CSN Washington reports.
Luckily for Escobar he came away from Monday's sliding incident, caused by the Braves' Andrelton Simmons, without stitches or structural damage to his hand. The Nationals will play it safe by resting him Wednesday and he should be considered day-to-day until the medical staff allows him to return. Dan Uggla and Danny Espinosa are the likely candidates to get a spot in the lineup during Escobar's brief stint on the bench.

Escobar exited Monday's game against the Braves in the bottom of the fifth inning due to a likely hand injury, MASN Sports' Dan Kolko reports.
Escobar was covering third base when his hand appeared to be spiked on an aggressive slide by the Braves' Andrelton Simmons. The Nationals should have a better idea on the extent of his injury after reevaluating him in the locker room. Dan Uggla entered the game in Escobar's stead, while Danny Espinosa moved over from second to third base.

Escobar will bat leadoff Saturday against the Marlins, Mark Zuckerman of CSN Washington reports.
With Denard Span out of the lineup, Escobar will slot in to the leadoff spot for the fifth time this season. Escobar has hit safely in six straight games and in 13 of his last 14 starts, but when Anthony Rendon (knee) returns, Escobar may very well be relegated to a bottom-third spot in the order.

Escobar went 1-for-5 with a walk-off home run in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals.
Returning after a two-game absence due to a groin injury, Escobar was dropped to sixth in the order for Tuesday's game due to Denard Span's activation from the disabled list Sunday. Escobar has put together a .277/.346/.447 line while working mostly as the replacement for Anthony Rendon (knee) at third base thus far.

After taking some grounders and working in the batting cage on Sunday, Escobar (groin) is still on pace for a return to the lineup on Tuesday, the Washington Post reports. "I think for Tuesday I'll be fine," Escobar said. "I'm gonna try. We'll see."
The Nats have the day off Monday, but Escobar will again get some work in, after which the club should have a better idea of his availability.

An MRI on Escobar's groin showed just inflammation, and he's hoping to return to the starting lineup on Tuesday, James Wagner of the Washington Post reports.
Danny Espinosa will get another start at third base on Sunday as a result, but owners in leagues with weekly transactions will likely want to to stick with Escobar next week unless they have a comparable healthy option on their bench.

Escobar (groin) will undergo an MRI on Saturday, the Washington Post reports.
Escobar doesn't think the groin strain, suffered while trying to leg out a single late in Friday's game, will require a DL stint. Manager Matt Williams wouldn't go so far as to say the same, as he wants to see the results of the MRI first, but the team's decision not to recall an infielder suggests Escobar is indeed day-to-day.

Escobar is not in the lineup Saturday against Philadelphia, but he doesn't expect to require a stint on the DL after leaving Friday's game with a strained groin, William Ladson of MLB.com reports.
For now, Escobar is considered day-to-day. Danny Espinosa is playing third base for the Nats on Saturday.

Escobar left Friday's game against the Phillies after after attempting to leg out a single, Mark Zuckerman of CSN Washington reports.
It looked like Escobar may have tweaked something, though the team has yet to provide an official diagnosis. Dan Uggla replaced Escobar at second base. The injury, even if it's minor, puts the Nationals in a tough spot, as it leaves the club without any reserve infielders at least for the rest of Friday's contest.
