Darvish didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 11-6 win over Atlanta, giving up five runs on nine hits and a walk over 5.2 innings while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
The right-handed exited the game after 99 pitches (67 strikes) on the hook for his second loss of the year, but a rally by the Padres in the top of the seventh erased Darvish as the pitcher of record. The outing snapped a streak of four straight quality starts for the 35-year-old, and Darvish will carry a 4.62 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 32:11 K:BB through 39 innings into his next outing.

Darvish (3-1) recorded the win during Friday's 3-2 victory over Miami, allowing two runs on five hits with three strikeouts in seven innings.
EDGE Analysis
Though Darvish didn't have his most dominant stuff, San Diego jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and a Jesus Aguilar home run was the only offense Miami could manage. Aside from a blow-up outing against San Francisco on April 12, the 35-year-old has registered five quality starts totaling 31.2 innings while permitting only six runs. San Diego is currently going with a six-man rotation so Darvish tentatively lines up to face Atlanta on Friday.

Darvish (2-1) gave up three runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out five in six innings Friday against the Pirates. He picked up the win.
EDGE Analysis
This was a baseline quality start, although Darvish scattered a season-high eight hits. He has now gone six-plus innings in three straight starts and four of five total on the season. Darvish lines up for a home start in the middle of the week against the Marlins.

Darvish (1-1) registered a no-decision during Saturday's 3-2 victory over the Dodgers, allowing one hit and three walks with seven strikeouts in six scoreless innings.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish shut down a potent Dodgers offense through six innings, but Los Angeles eventually rallied to tie the game and erase Darvish from the decision. The 35-year-old has now permitted just one run through 18.2 innings aside from surrendering nine runs in 1.2 innings against San Francisco on April 12. He'll look to keep things rolling against the Pirates on Friday.

Darvish (1-1) notched the win during Sunday's 2-1 victory over Atlanta, allowing one run on four hits with eight strikeouts in 6.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Making his first appearance following a blow up against San Francisco on Tuesday, Darvish limited a potent Atlanta offense to four baserunners through nearly seven innings. Manager Bob Melvin opted to keep the righty in the game despite serving up a Marcel Ozuna home run to lead off the seventh inning, but he was later pulled after surrendering a two-out double. The 35-year-old has now submitted two excellent starts through three turns and is set to face the Dodgers on Saturday for his next start.

Darvish (0-1) took the loss during Tuesday's 13-2 defeat at the hands of the Giants, allowing nine runs on eight hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 1.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish permitted San Francisco to bat around and score six runs in the first inning before loading the bases and surrendering three more runs in the second. It took 57 pitches to record just five outs though the outing can be chalked up to a blip after Darvish was lights out in his opening start against Arizona. Darvish is slated to pitch next on Sunday Night Baseball against Atlanta.

Darvish didn't factor into the decision Thursday against Arizona after tossing six scoreless innings, walking four and striking out three without allowing a hit.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish wasn't exactly dominant in this one, throwing only 51 of his 92 pitches for strikes, but the Diamondbacks couldn't make any good contact against him. This was perhaps a step in the right direction for the Japanese hurler, who posted a 4.22 ERA last season.

The Padres named Darvish their starting pitcher for the April 7 season opener in Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish and Joe Musgrove were in the mix to take the mound Opening Day, but Darvish will ultimately get the nod after allowing a run on five hits and no walks while striking out 10 in seven innings across his first two spring starts. After a career year with the Cubs in 2020, the right-hander struggled during his first season with the Padres, finishing the 2021 campaign with a 4.22 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 166.1 innings across 30 starts.

Padres manager Bob Melvin said Tuesday that either Darvish or Joe Musgrove will start Opening Day against the Braves, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish and Musgrove were San Diego's top starters last season, though back and hip issues contributed to a rough second half for Darvish. The veteran right-hander finished the campaign with a 4.22 ERA, yet his 1.09 WHIP was his best mark in a non-shortened season since 2013. Darvish is 35 years old, but he still has excellent strikeout stuff and could rebound from his post-July numbers last season if he can stay healthy.

Darvish said Tuesday that he worked on his mechanics during the offseason and that his hip has healed "nicely," Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish had a fantastic start to his debut campaign with the Padres in 2021, posting a 2.44 ERA and 115:23 K:BB though his first 96 innings. Things fell apart after that, however, as he registered a 6.65 ERA from July 3 onward. His struggles were at least partly due to back and hip issues that affected him throughout the second half of the campaign, so it makes sense that his offseason mechanical alterations were intended to help place less stress on the lower back and hip area. Darvish was outstanding in 2020 and for the first half of 2021, so there's certainly the possibility of a bounce-back performance this season. However, fantasy managers should keep in mind that the veteran is 36 years old and that back and hip injuries tend to be tough to entirely shake.
