FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Willy Taveras is looking to make a return to the majors. Tavares has a .363 OBP and is 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts in his first 18 games for Pericos de Puebla in the Mexican League this season. The 32-year-old hasn't appeared in the majors since 2010.

Royals released OF Willy Taveras. Taveras, now 31, was hitting .238/.308/.340 through 79 games with Triple-A Omaha this season. He'll attempt to latch on elsewhere, but there's little hope of him resurfacing in the majors at this point.

Royals signed OF Willy Taveras to minor league contract. The deal also includes a spring training invite. Taveras, now 30 years old, didn't play professionally in 2012 and hasn't played in the majors since 2010. He's a long shot to make the Opening Day roster.

According to Evan Drellich of MLB.com, Willy Taveras is planning a comeback. "I just need a chance to get back in baseball. That's what I love, I love to play baseball," said Taveras, who hasn't played in the majors since 2010 and didn't play professionally this year. "It hurt to watch the games on TV. I definitely want a chance to get back to baseball and go from there." Now 30 years old, he'll likely have to settle for a minor league deal.
