Calhoun went 3-for-5 with two home runs and eight RBI for Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The 22-year-old sent the Round Rock fans home happy by smacking a walkoff grand slam to cap off another sterling day at the plate. It was the third multi-hit game in a row for Calhoun, who has slashed .300/.336/.564 with eight home runs in 28 games with Round Rock since coming over from the Dodgers in the Yu Darvish trade July 31. Though the Rangers declined to move Calhoun to the majors when rosters expanded in September, the second baseman/outfielder has established himself as one of the top prospects in the organization and could get a shot at competing for an everyday role with the big club next spring.

Calhoun went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI for Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Acquired last week from the Dodgers as the main prize in the Yu Darvish deal, Calhoun hasn't taken long to make a strong impression with his new organization. In his five games with Round Rock, Calhoun has supplied four home runs and eight RBI, bringing his totals up to 27 and 75, respectively, for the season. Though listed at just 5-foot-8 and 187 pounds, Calhoun has shown over his last two minor-league campaigns that his power from the left side is legitimate, and that should carry more weight in evaluations than his unimposing physique. Calhoun could challenge for an everyday role with the Rangers at second base or in left field as soon as 2018.

The Dodgers agreed to trade Calhoun to the Rangers on Monday along with A.J. Alexy and Brendon Davis in exchange for Yu Darvish, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman made the biggest splash at this year's trade deadline, and he did so without giving up any of the Dodgers' most prized prospects. Calhoun is an impressive hitter, but he projects as a below-average defender even at second base and that obviously hurts his real-life value. He may not get a look until 2018 barring an injury.

Calhoun, 22, is hitting .300/.351/.584 with 22 home runs and 65 RBI through 93 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
EDGE Analysis
Playing mostly second base, the 5-foot-8 Calhoun has showcased superior pop, cruising over the 20-homer mark for the second-straight year. Perhaps more impressively, he is still hitting .300 and has only fanned 46 times on the year. The first-place Dodgers have Logan Forsythe and Chase Utley sharing second base right now, and are unlikely to make a move with Calhoun at this time. As such, he will likely have to continue to bide his time in the minors, with a chance in 2018 at the starting job.

Calhoun (hamstring) went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored Friday for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
EDGE Analysis
Calhoun was sidelined with hamstring tightness earlier in the week, but he ultimately missed just one game due to the ailment. Following Friday's contest, the top prospect now holds a .919 OPS with 14 home runs and 38 RBI during his time with Oklahoma City.

Calhoun, who exited Tuesday's game early, is dealing with a minor hamstring injury, Jacob Unruh of The Oklahoman reports.
EDGE Analysis
Calhoun tweaked his hamstring while legging out a triple in the fifth inning of Oklahoma City's 7-2 win over Omaha on Tuesday. Following the game, manager Bill Haselman stated that initial reports regarding Calhoun's injury were very positive and that "[he] probably could have kept him in the game." It sounds like Calhoun may sit out Wednesday's contest but could be ready to return as soon as Thursday.

Calhoun exited Tuesday's game against Triple-A Omaha early with an apparent injury, Jacob Unruh of The Oklahoman reports.
EDGE Analysis
Calhoun appeared to be limping following his triple in the fifth inning. When his turn in the batting order came up again two innings later, he was pinch hit for by Max Muncy. Calhoun should be considered day-to-day until we have more details in regards to his early exit.

Calhoun, 22, is hitting .296/.331/.478 with four home runs and three steals (on four attempts) in 121 plate appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
EDGE Analysis
His walk rate fell from 8.0 percent at Double-A to 5.0 percent at Triple-A, but he continues to make contact at an elite clip (12.4 percent strikeout rate). If Calhoun was an average defender at anywhere on the diamond, he might already be in the big leagues. Unfortunately, he profiles as a below-average defender at second base, so while his bat looks ready for primetime, the Dodgers are not yet willing to deal with his defensive shortcomings.

Calhoun was optioned to the minors Tuesday, The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Calhoun spent the early stages of spring training working on his defense and conditioning in an effort to have those aspects of his game catch up with his strong hit tool. Once the 22-year-old got into game action, he flashed the hitting prowess that has him pegged as a future 20-plus homer second baseman (.360 with a homer and five RBI in 25 at-bats). He will likely start he year with Triple-A Oklahoma City after hitting 27 homers with Double-A Tulsa in 2016.

Calhoun has not gotten into game action yet, as the Dodgers have him focused on defense and conditioning, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.
EDGE Analysis
Calhoun's bad body and subsequently mediocre defense are the two things standing in the way of him projecting as a future 25-homer second baseman. The Dodgers obviously want him to recognize the importance of conditioning this spring, so that will likely be the primary objective over the next month. He is expected to open the year at Triple-A Oklahoma City.
