Peter Gammons of MLB Network and NESN hears that the Diamondbacks have re-signed Willie Bloomquist. It's unclear whether Gammons is hearing this information second-hand or has some inside knowledge. Jon Heyman of SI.com reported Wednesday morning that the veteran utility man had contract offers from both the Diamondbacks and the Giants. Stay tuned.

Tim Brown of Yahoo.com reports that the Giants are expected to look at free agent Willie Bloomquist if he doesn't re-sign with the Diamondbacks. Bloomquist will turn 34 later this month, so he's right up Giants general manager Brian Sabean's alley. Agent Scott Boras said recently that his client is drawing "a lot of interest" around the league, so the Giants could have some competition. That's assuming, of course, that Boras is telling the truth, which is no sure thing.

Super agent Scott Boras told the Arizona Republic that his client, free agent Willie Bloomquist, is drawing "a lot of interest" around the league. Bloomquist declined his portion of a mutual option for 2012 last week and will instead seek the best deal he can find. The 33-year-old utilityman batted .266/.317/.340 with four home runs, 26 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 381 plate appearances this season. He's likely to score a multi-year contract.

Will Bloomquist went 1-for-4 with his ninth stolen base, as the Diamondbacks beat the Brewers 7-3 on Tuesday. Starting in place of Stephen Drew for the second time in four games, Bloomquist has become a fairly dependable back-up option for Arizona manager Kirk Gibson. In fact, he has hit safely in 10 of his last 13 games.
