Perez signed a minor-league contract with the Cardinals on Monday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old wasn't able to find a landing spot until June when the Mariners signed him to a minor-league deal. However, his patience paid off, as he produced a 2.28 ERA in 13 starts at Double-A Arkansas and a 3.15 ERA in four starts for Triple-A Tacoma. Perez has major-league experience as a starter, though with a crowded rotation battle on tap for spring training, his best bet to make the big-league team may be as a long reliever.

Perez signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Tuesday, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Immediately after signing with Seattle, Perez reported to Double-A Arkansas and started Tuesday's game, tossing five shutout innings and striking out six. The 27-year-old right-hander had planned to attend spring training with the Cubs, but was cut in February shortly before camp was scheduled to begin after being arrested for his involvement in a shooting in his native Venezuela. Perez never faced charges after the shooting was later deemed an accident, so he'll be able to resume his career without any legal matters lingering over him.

The Cubs released Perez on Sunday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Perez's dismissal comes a week after he was arrested in Venezuela following a fatal shooting accident. With the legal process still ongoing, it's uncertain when or if Perez will be allowed to resume his playing career. The 26-year-old spent the entire 2017 campaign at Triple-A Iowa in the Cubs' organization, finishing with a 5.01 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over 120.1 innings.

Perez was arrested Saturday after an accidental shooting, Marcos Grunfeld reports.
EDGE Analysis
Perez was reportedly handing a gun that he owned to pitching coach, Cesar Quintero, when the gun went off -- Quintero was shot and didn't survive the incident. The accident occurred in Venezuela, and the 26-year-old pitcher is cooperating with police. Pitchers and catchers reports on Feb. 13 for Chicago, so it's unclear if Perez will be in attendance Tuesday.

Perez agreed to a minor-league deal with the Cubs on Thursday, which included an invitation to spring training.
EDGE Analysis
Perez started 23 games for Triple-A Iowa last season, posting a 5.01 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over 120.1 innings. Although he's appeared in 31 big-leagues games dating back to 2015, it seems likely that he will be back at the Triple-A level this spring. He will provide organizational depth with the ability to make a spot start or add to the bullpen.

Perez (elbow) gave up four runs in his first inning of work this spring, allowing three hits while walking one and striking out one.
EDGE Analysis
Perez has been out since last September recovering from an elbow impingement, and the 25-year-old struggled in his first appearance back. He'll look to turn things around as he gets more innings, but either way he'll likely serve as organizational depth in 2017.

Perez has signed a minor league deal with the Cubs, FOX's Ken Rosenthal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Perez was released on Dec. 8 by the Braves in advance of the Rule 5 Draft. He made 11 starts for Atlanta last year, compiling a 6.04 ERA. In 2015, he started 20 games and posted a 4.78 ERA. The Cubs rotation is pretty well set at this point, so Perez figures to offer organizational depth.

Perez was released by the Braves in advance of Thursday's Rule 5 Draft.
EDGE Analysis
Perez started 11 games for the Braves in 2016, finishing the year with a 6.04 ERA across 53.2 innings. The end of his season was characterized by injuries, however, as the 25-year-old sustained an elbow impingement not long after returning from the 60-day DL. As a result, he was deemed expendable by the Braves, giving the team a chance to add another player in the Rule 5 Draft on Thursday.

Perez has been diagnosed with a right elbow impingement, 680 The Fan's Kevin McAlpin reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Braves are not ruling out Perez returning this season, but that seems like a bit of a long shot. He was removed from Sunday's start with what was initially thought to be a triceps injury. Tyrell Jenkins is an option to be recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett to slot into Perez's rotation spot.

Perez was removed from Sunday's start against the Mets with a right triceps impingement, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Perez had struggled through 2.2 innings prior to his departure, surrendering five runs on four hits and a walk. The Braves are set to reevaluate him Monday and should offer an update on his condition. Even if the news on Perez's health is positive, it's difficult to place much trust in him at this time. He's posted a 6.04 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 53.2 innings.
