All three came around to score, putting a sour ending on what had appeared to be another impressive outing by the southpaw. Coming into Thursday, Miley had given up just three total earned runs over his previous three starts covering 18 innings. He still managed to pick up his fourth quality start of the campaign in Colorado, and his 2.31 season ERA ranks 12th among qualified starters.

Miley did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing one run on seven hits over six innings against the Angels. He struck out two.

EDGE Analysis

Miley continued his excellent start to 2023. He has pitched at least five innings in every start and has allowed three runs or less each time out. The strikeout numbers are not there, as he has just five punch outs in 11 innings over his last two starts. However his ERA is a minuscule 1.86 and his WHIP is an even 1.00.

Miley (3-1) earned the win Saturday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk over five innings against Boston. He struck out three.

Miley gave up a two-run home run to Yu Chang in the fifth inning, but was otherwise sharp Saturday. That is three wins in four starts for the 36-year-old southpaw. Miley's numbers are excellent this season with a 1.96 ERA and a 17:4 K:BB over 23 innings. Miley is currently lined up to face the Angels next week.

Miley (2-1) earned the win Sunday, pitching seven shutout innings while allowing four hits and striking out eight against the Padres. He did not walk a batter.

Miley was engaged in a pitcher's duel with Yu Darvish and turned in one of his better outings in recent memory. He completed seven innings for the first time since May 16 and his eight strikeouts were his most since Sept. 7, 2021. Miley typically isn't known for being a strikeout type of pitcher, but he was able to neutralize the Padres' lineup with relative ease. The 36-year-old has tossed shutouts in two-of-three starts to kick off the year and now stands at a 1.50 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and a 14:3 K:BB over 18 innings. He tentatively lines up to face the Red Sox at home next weekend.

Miley (1-1) took the loss Monday, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks over five innings against the Diamondbacks. He struck out three.

Arizona got on the on the board in the first with an RBI single by Josh Rojas, but Miley was able to settle in after that and tossed three scoreless frames before surrendering a two-run shot to Christian Walker in the fifth. The left-hander was able to get out of his final inning by retiring Evan Longoria, but his mediocre start wasn't good enough, as the Brewers were blanked by Zac Gallen. Across two starts (11 innings), Miley has given up 10 hits, three walks and three runs while striking out six. His next start is tentatively scheduled against San Diego, which should be an interesting challenge for the veteran.

Miley (1-0) earned the win Tuesday against the Mets after he allowed five hits over six scoreless innings. He had three strikeouts and zero walks.

EDGE Analysis

The veteran left-hander pounded the zone in his season debut and threw 51 of his 79 pitches for strikes, and he gave up just five singles to New York. Miley's fantasy potential is limited by his low strikeouts, but he could provide some ERA stability in deeper leagues, as long as he can stay healthy. He tentatively lines up to make his next start Monday in Arizona.

Miley is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Mets.

EDGE Analysis

Miley rejoined the Brewers in January, and he will start the club's fifth game of the season. He only made three appearances during spring training, but he was effective, posting a 4.22 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 8:4 K:BB over 10.2 innings. While he is at the back end of the rotation, his spot will likely be secure for a while, as no one is imminently knocking on the door to replace him.

Miley agreed to a one-year, $4.5 million contract with the Brewers on Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, Miley's deal includes a $10 million mutual option for 2024 with a $1 million buyout, plus up to $1.5 million of incentives.

Miley (2-2) tossed two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win Saturday against the Reds.

Miley hadn't pitched in a week due to oblique tightness, and he made his return in a relief role for the first time this season, working through two innings on just 12 pitches without allowing a hit or a walk. Injuries have limited the lefty to only 37 innings this year, though he's pitched well with a 3.16 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. Miley will likely stick in a relief role in the last few days of the season, then aim to get healthy for a bigger workload in 2023.
