The left-hander has given up one or zero runs in three of his past four starts, posting a 2.21 ERA over 20.1 innings during that stretch. Miley's 14:8 K:BB during that period isn't very impressive, but he's pitching well enough to be a solid option should the Brewers need a fourth starter in the playoffs. Miley (9-4) earned the win Thursday over the Cardinals, throwing six shutout innings with seven strikeouts in a 6-0 victory. He allowed three hits and two walks.

Miley stymied the Cardinals on Thursday, scattering just five baserunners across a marvelous six innings. He only allowed one extra base hit -- a double by Paul Goldschmidt in the first inning. The 13-year veteran easily had his best start since returning from an elbow injury Aug. 2. In nine starts since, Miley has gone 3-2 with a 3.40 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 31:18 K:BB over 47.2 innings.

Miley (8-4) picked up the win in Friday's 5-3 victory over the Nationals, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out three.

EDGE Analysis

All three Washington runs came in the first inning as it looked like Miley might get chased early, but the veteran southpaw settled down after that and came one out short of his ninth quality start of the season. Since rejoining the rotation at the beginning of August, Miley has posted a solid 3.89 ERA and 1.13 WHIP despite a weak 24:16 K:BB through 41.2 innings. His next trip to the mound will likely come next week in St. Louis.

Miley retired 10 of the first 12 batters he faced but ran into trouble in the fourth after issuing a one-out walk to Gleyber Torres. Two runs would end up coming across for New York in the inning before the lefty was replaced by Elvis Peguero. Miley had gone at least five innings in five consecutive starts coming in, and Saturday marked his shortest outing since May 16. He's now issued three walks in back-to-back starts and holds a 4.50 ERA in September to go along with a 7:6 K:BB.

Miley (7-4) took the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks over 6.1 innings against the Phillies. He struck out four.

Miley was cruising Sunday, holding the Phillies hitless until the sixth inning. However, he'd give up a run on a Nick Castellanos two-out double before surrendering a pair of homers in the seventh en route to an eventual 4-2 loss. The 36-year-old Miley had been pitching well for the Brewers, going 4-1 with a 2.77 ERA over his prior 10 starts. Overall, the left-hander sports a 3.33 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP and 64:30 K:BB across 19 starts (100 innings) this season. Miley's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Yankees in his next outing.

Miley served up a pair of homers in the contest, but they were both solo shots, and those were the only runs Chicago could manage against him. The left-hander got the job done by getting 11 of his 18 outs via grounders, making up for the fact that he tallied just four swinging strikes and one punchout. Miley's quality start was eighth in 18 outings this season, and he's compiled a strong 3.17 ERA and 1.14 WHIP despite fanning just 60 batters over 93.2 frames.

After allowing more than two runs once in his previous eight starts, Miley surrendered three earned runs for a second consecutive outing Tuesday. He was tagged for a two-run homer by Christian Vazquez in the second frame, marking the southpaw's third straight appearance giving up a long ball. Despite a couple of hiccups, Miley's been a solid fantasy contributor this season, owning a 6-3 record and a 3.18 ERA across 87.2 innings. Miley's tentatively scheduled to take the mound next during a three-game road series against the Cubs next week.

However, Miley will almost surely be tested during his next start -- currently scheduled to come against a Dodgers offense that boasts a .797 OPS on the season.

The Brewers reinstated Miley (elbow) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday in Washington.

Milwaukee reopened a spot in its rotation for Miley a few days earlier, when the team placed Julio Teheran (hip) on the 15-day IL. Miley ended up missing just over the minimum 15 days due to left elbow discomfort, but he appears to have responded well to a platelet-rich plasma injection and didn't require a rehab assignment prior to being activated. Miley should be in store for close to a normal workload as he makes his 14th start of the season Wednesday.
