Rottino was reassigned to minor league camp Tuesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. No surprise here, as the 35-year-old Rottino has not played in the major leagues since 2012. He'll likely need a few injuries in front of him to have a shot at reaching the majors this season.

Rottino signed a minor-league contract with the Marlins on Thursday that includes an invite to big-league spring training, Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. The 35-year-old Rottino last appeared in the majors in 2012, and spent the past season in Korea with the Nexen Heroes. During his time in the KBO, Rottino showed an ability to draw walks at a prolific rate, while offering the versatility to play multiple defensive spots. He'll provide the Marlins with some meaningful organizational depth, but appears unlikely to seriously contend for a 25-man roster spot out of spring training.

Vinny Rottino has elected free agency. Rottino was outrighted to the minors by the Indians last month but has decided to hit the market rather than accept the assignment. He offers positional versatility but is a career .165/.241/.299 hitter over 110 plate appearances.

Indians purchased the contract of INF-OF Vinny Rottino from Triple-A Columbus. The Tribe claimed Rottino off waivers from the Mets near the end of June. He batted just .182 (6-for-33) in 18 games with New York and is doubtful to suddenly shine in Cleveland. The 32-year-old utilityman can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Vinny Rottino went 2-for-3 with a homer, a walk and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Padres. Rottino's solo shot in the first inning was the first home run of his major league career. The 32-year-old journeyman was hitting well at Triple-A Buffalo and may get some more at-bats at first base with Ike Davis being benched against some southpaws, but he can be ignored in the great majority of fantasy leagues.
