Belnome has been reassigned to minor-league camp, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. After going 1-for-9 with a double, three strikeouts and three walks across nine games this spring, Belnome has been reassigned and is most likely to begin the 2015 season with Triple-A Durham. With the ability to play several positions and holding an impressive .402 OBP over seven minor-league campaigns, the 27-year-old utility man could definitely see time in the bigs this summer. He appeared in four games for the Rays in 2014.

Belnome was sent outright to Triple-A Durham on Friday. Belnome has hit .274/.383/.408 in parts of three seasons at the Triple-A level and clubbed 10 homers in 118 games with Durham in 2014, but it wasn't enough to save his spot on the 40-man roster. He seems destined to play out 2015 as organizational depth in the minors.

Belnome was designated for assignment Monday. Belnome was just 1-for-10 with the Rays in his first major league action last season. He won't be on the 40-man roster heading into next season, but it's possible that he could receive a non-roster invite in spring training. The move was made to make room on the 40-man roster for Matt Moore, who needed to be reinstated from the 60-day DL Monday.

Content to roll with seven relievers for the time being, the Rays sent Brandon Gomes packing Friday night and brought Belnome back Saturday morning for some added infield depth. In 106 games with Durham this season, Belnome has hit .241/.360/.382 with nine homers, and his opportunities will likely be limited barring several injuries.
