Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com reports that right-hander Vicente Padilla has agreed to a one-year, $3.25 million contract with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of Japan's Pacific League. It's easy to see why he jumped at the opportunity, as it's unlikely he received a comparable offer stateside. Padilla, 35, posted a 4.50 ERA and 51/15 K/BB ratio over 50 innings last season as a reliever with the Red Sox. There's a decent chance he could resurface in the majors after 2013.

The Angels have reportedly expressed interest in free agent right-hander Vicente Padilla. The Red Sox haven't ruled out re-signing Padilla, but he seems likely to hold out for a guaranteed contract. The 34-year-old resurrected his career as a setup man with the Red Sox last season. Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that Padilla is "on the radar of a few teams."

Red Sox activated RHP Vicente Padilla from the 15-day disabled list. Padilla landed on the disabled list earlier this month with a right biceps strain, but he only ended up missing the minimum amount of time. The veteran right-hander returns to a 4.62 ERA and 43/11 K/BB ratio over 39 innings. Danny Valencia was optioned back to Triple-A in a corresponding roster move.

Red Sox placed RHP Vicente Padilla on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 6, with a right biceps strain. Padilla has really struggled recently, so the Red Sox are hoping a couple weeks off will get him back on track physically. The veteran right-hander has a 4.62 ERA and 43/11 K/BB ratio over 39 innings this season. Clayton Mortensen was called up from Triple-A Pawtucket in a corresponding roster move.

Vicente Padilla (biceps, triceps) is expected to be placed on the disabled list Tuesday. Padilla was unavailable Tuesday due to discomfort in his right biceps and triceps. The Red Sox haven't made an official roster move yet, but Clayton Mortensen is with the team and is expected to take his place on the active roster.

Vicente Padilla reported feeling tightness in his left side after Wednesday's relief appearance. Padilla expects to be fine going forward, but it's probably a situation that the Red Sox will monitor closely. The right-hander threw a scoreless frame on Wednesday night against the Twins but still carries an ugly 8.64 ERA in 8 1/3 total innings this year.

Vicente Padilla started and pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings Sunday in Boston's 5-1 win over Minnesota. With Andrew Miller bound for the disabled list, Padilla appears likely to make the Red Sox as a middle reliever. He's battled a hamstring injury this spring, but he has a 3.55 ERA and a nice 11/1 K/BB ratio in 12 2/3 innings.

Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine doesn't believe Vicente Padilla could fill the multiple-innings relief role played by Alfredo Aceves last season. "I don't think so right now. I don't have a great feeling," Valentine said. "Only because he's not sure about it, so it's hard for me to be sure, talking with him." Padilla, 34, is looking to secure a bullpen spot after being removed from the competition for the Red Sox rotation. He has pitched to mixed results in five appearances this spring.

Vicente Padilla (hamstring) and Andrew Miller (hamstring) have been removed from the competition for spots in the Red Sox rotation. Hamstring injuries have decisions necessary, as their innings have been limited in camp and neither are ready to return to game action yet. Padilla will now compete for a bullpen spot when he's ready, while Miller seems like to start the season on the DL or as a starter at Triple-A. Daniel Bard, Alfredo Aceves, Aaron Cook and Felix Doubront are now competing for the final two spots in the rotation.

Vicente Padilla (hamstring) will have his next outing pushed back. Padilla suffered a strained right hamstring Tuesday while in the weight room. It's not clear when he'll resume his quest for a spot on the Opening Day roster. The 34-year-old right-hander has allowed five runs on 13 hits over 10 innings this spring.
